As matchmaker to millionaires worldwide, Patti Stanger is pretty well-equipped to tackle even the toughest dating dilemmas. She knows a thing or two when it comes to good old-fashioned matchmaking, founding her own Millionaire's Club as a third-generation relationship guru. I'm not doubting Patti's natural gifts, but I couldn't help but wonder how she might benefit from getting wired with the right (tech) stuff to give her a leg up on the love game.

Does It Bother You When Tech on TV Is Out of Date?

If you're a Lost fan, you know that though the series spans six seasons, the entire plot takes place (well, more or less) within the space of several months. Since the show started in 2004, any time a character appears with some kind of technology it obviously has to come from 2004. I forgot about this simple detail when watching last night, and for a split second was shocked to see Jack Shephard talking on a flip phone!

While this plot detail is super-important for a series so dependent on time as Lost is, tech is obviously all over TV. It's usually up-to-date, but there are a few times when an outdated gadget or gizmo shows up onscreen (answering machines, for example). It may be slightly tech-snob of me, but it actually does bother me a bit when there's a ton of outdated phones or other gadgets in modern-day shows or movies. I guess for me it's all about the details. What do you think?

Are You Tuning In to Caprica?

Although you've been able to watch the pilot episode of Caprica for, oh I don't know, like forever since its TV and DVD debut last year, the series officially began its run last week. In case you missed it, you can get caught up by watching it online here before the all-new episode hits Syfy this Friday at 9 p.m.

Taking place 58 years before the Battlestar Galactica series began, Caprica follows the lives of humanity at the dawn of Cylon creation. Personally, I'm glad that Caprica isn't trying too hard to tie-in with my beloved BSG, seeming to have a life of its own while still giving me my Cylon fix. However, ratings were pretty low during last week's series premiere despite the huge amounts of robot and tech geekery, so now I'm wondering - are you tuning in to Caprica?

Do You Like Tech on TV?

It's been a year since Jimmy Fallon told fans he was planning to bring some geek to his late night talk show. I'm not an avid watcher, but this week I managed to catch a few episodes (mostly thanks to my desire to catch Conan's last week on the Tonight Show).

Two things I noticed immediately: Jimmy Fallon loves both his iPhone and his MacBook Pro - it sits prominently on his desk through the whole show. His iPhone makes plenty of appearances, too; from sketches about real and fictional apps (if you like that segment, you'll love this quiz) to texting on-air.

It doesn't seem like product placement to me, I think he generally uses and loves these gadgets, and I love that he incorporates them into his show. I also love that so many talk show hosts reference services like DVR and Hulu, recognizing that not all viewers watch their shows on live TV; it makes for a modern and realistic watching experience. What about you? Do you think these techy details add to a show, or would you rather they stick to other programming?
