Hot Holiday Item to Pre-Order: New SMB For the Wii

I'm not gonna lie, after getting a sneak peek of New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii back in June at E3, I've been secretly counting down the days until I can pop this game into my shiny white console.

In less than five days (this Sunday!) SMB for the Wii ($50) will be released across the country, and I can tell you this much - it's going to be on many wish lists this holiday season - heck, it's already getting rave reviews.

There's no denying that Super Mario Bros. games have staying power - SMB3 did win our best video game ever bracket challenge! And with this game you can experience multiplayer fun (Mario, Luigi and two toads are playable characters), use the new propeller suit, and shake and tilt your wiimote to do fun things like tilt seesaws and transform Mario into a penguin.

If the Twilight laptop skin isn't your thing, then maybe this selection of cool and geeky ones will be. I first found this awesome Snow White laptop decal (which reminded me of yet another Twilight-themed decal), which incorporates your Apple logo into the piece. But then I kept browsing the shop and got hooked on all of the totally geeky decals, which can be used on your laptop, your Kindle, your walls, or wherever you want to stick 'em.

Glitzy Super Mario Bros. Fashion Collection

Any articles of Super Mario Bros. apparel I've seen before usually consist of hand-knitted creations like the 1Up Mushroom or the beautiful Princess Peach scarves. Well feast your eyes on this glamorous Super Mario Bros. eveningwear line from Craftster member montyfull. From an actual sequined Mario dress to a bob-omb and mushroom dress, she covered all of the basics and then some.

Why the gamer-themed dresses? She says:

"So I'm a fashion major. Graduated in 2007, and just got around to uploading pics of my stuff! I'm an avid gamer for life. Shooters, RPGs, PC, Nintendo, Xbox . . . Geeky coasters are hot - maybe because after all that brain activity, we all just need to wind down with a cool drink? Whatever the reason, I'll just appreciate, like I am with this set of 1-Up Mario Mushroom Coasters ($20).

The hand-stitched coasters recall your love for Mario and Luigi without having to dust off that old console. But what do you say - does nostalgia win, or have you outgrown these old game motifs?

Remember the $155 knitted Princess Peach Scarf? The seller is back with the equally geeky and radical 1Up Mushroom Scarf.

It's also in the same price range - $150 - but look at that handiwork: The individual mushrooms! The bright, happy green!

But yes, we are adults. Some of us are averse to winding knitted fungi around our necks, and for those of us who are not, well, more power to you.

Princess Peach Knitted Scarf: Love It or Leave It?

It's still very cold outside, and scarves and gloves are de rigeur for my wardrobe. Would I use this knitted Princess Peach Scarf to stave off the cold? I'm not sure it would go with my every outfit, but I can't hate any piece of apparel that features my OG video game goddess.

The $155 price tag, on the other hand, turns me away - although it is a handmade Etsy item, so you're paying for quality and love.

What do you think? Would you rock this video game vixen's face on a scarf?
