Hot dog, y'all — the Palm Pre is finally within reach and will be hitting store shelves June 6! Obviously, I'm pretty excited to check it out for myself, but I am having a bit of an internal debate: will I fork over last month's savings for Palm's newest smartphone, or will I wait (and wait and wait) it out to pick up the latest version of the iPhone, which is surely being released the week following the Pre launch?
And to make deciding where to throw my cash even more difficult, there's word that there will not only be a touchscreen Bold coming our way soon, but a new Storm as well.

Although I have both a Blackberry and an iPhone, I find that my iPhone gets more mileage as my personal handset, while my Blackberry is used primarily for business. And it seems that a majority of people feel the same way: a recent study shows that out of 600 smartphone users, 73 percent carried an iPhone as their personal phone, while 59 percent of Blackberry, HTC, and Nokia owners used theirs for business.
So now I'm interested: do you use your smartphone primarily as your business or personal phone?

On Monday, Wired posted a comical story about five gadgets that have been killed by the cell phone, then yesterday amended the post to include even more gadgets that have been tossed aside for the convenience of all-in-one cell features.
This got me wondering if your cell phone has taken the place of your other gadgets? I know that my iPhone has inadvertently replaced several on this list, but there are a few I can't live without (hello, proper digital camera!).

No doubt, it may be torture some days to not be an iPhone or iPod Touch user and have to read about some cool new Chanel or Netflix app from iPhone's App Store when you're an avowed BlackBerry or Palm smartphone user. Windows Mobile may have its good points, but a cool feature like the App Store is not one of them. .

Turns out our addictions to our smartphones and laptops aren't just affecting our love lives and vacation time.
According to AOL's E-Mail Addiction study for 2007, 40 percent of e-mail users have checked their e-mail in the middle of the night. Which means, people are sleeping with their laptops, smartphones (ie BlackBerries, iPhones and Treos) right at their bed side.

I'm a devout smartphone lover now, often espousing the virtues of the iPhones and the BlackBerries, but I remember the days of having a regular cell phone and thinking — I didn't need all that "junk." I just need a cell phone for calls, I thought. How young and naive I was.

Last week I asked all of you if your cell phone was girly. I was pretty surprised at how many of you said you have pink phones, with the Motorola Razr being a number one favorite.
Now I'm curious to know who has traded in their old phones for a PDA or Smartphone...since they seem to be all the craze these days.

This year's CES has already begun pouring in the tech treats, and one I was particularly excited for was Palm's. I wasn't let down: Palm announced its newest smartphone, the Palm Pre, with soft lines and a gorgeous OS.
The new phone has a multitouch touch screen, full Internet browser, slides out to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, but the best part — and what actually sets it apart from the iPhones, the BlackBerrys, the Androids — is the wireless charger, the "Touchstone."

The other day I found myself driving across the Golden Gate Bridge and trying to read the new emails on my BlackBerry.
It wasn't my finest moment, but as I weaved through traffic I suddenly realized what I was doing and put my phone down.
I suppose reading something on your cell phone is better than text messaging while driving, but that doesn't make it safe.
