Ever since I saw this list of 10 things you can stop cleaning right now — much of which involves disposing of things rather than washing them — I've been wondering how we can make housework easier without making landfills fuller. So in the Open House this weekend, I asked you guys to share your house-cleaning shortcuts.
Several users mentioned the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, which is also one of my must-have cleaning tools.

As a devoted Google Reader user, I relish any tips I can use to make it even more useful — so imagine my delight the other day when I let my laptop slip (I told you I was a klutz) and grabbed for it, panicked — and accidentally had hit a key combo that brought up a key of Google Reader keyboard shortcuts.
Don't worry, I replicated it — it's shift + ? — and you can also open it as a separate page.

Learning useful hotkeys makes my heart swell, as do any efficient shortcuts (I say it once a week to somebody: if you're not using Quicksilver, you're wasting your own time).
Here's two keyboard shortcuts to expedite shutdown for any Apple computer:
- To shut down, press Control + Command (Apple) + Option and Eject for shut down.
- Alternatively, Control + Command + Eject restarts your computer.

Like I told the PC users yesterday, if you don't already know all the keyboard shortcuts, you're probably only half geek, but just in case you've missed a few along the way, check out these shortcuts that will surely make your life much easier.
- Shift + Command + Delete = Empty Trash
- Option + Shift + Command - Delete = Empty Trash without dialog
- Shift + Command + N = New Folder
- Command + O = Open
- Command + S = Save

If you don't already know these, you're probably only half geek, but even the biggest computer nerds among us sometimes take the long route, so here are some PC keyboard shortcuts you should know.
