Last night I put on my party dress and attended the star-studded BlackJack II by Samsung launch party in LA. Held at the hot new Mexican restaurant Beso (which officially opens mid-December) and hosted by self-confessed gadget girl Eva Longoria, my partner in crime Molly and I rocked out to a special performance by Mark Ronson and the Version Players and, best of all, got to check out the BlackJack II.
The AT&T exclusive Samsung BlackJack is a lot sleeker then I envisioned, and I was thoroughly impressed with the large 2.2-inch color display screen.

It's certainly been awhile since we've heard anything about the BlackJack II smartphone by Samsung, so I'm not surprised that some freshly painted pink and blue BlackJack II's have been spotted in the wild — even though it's usually Palm making all the cell phone color changes.
AT&T hasn't confirmed this great news just yet, but these candy colored phones are said to already be arriving in stores across the country and will cost around the same price as the basic black and wine colored BJ II's. Considering they're affordable and include geeky goodies like built-in GPS and Windows Mobile 6, these may be worth watching out for.

After my brief encounter with the BlackJack II at the Samsung/AT&T launch party in LA, I knew that I needed a one-on-one test drive session with this new sleek smartphone. What's great about this wine colored phone is the fact that it is lightweight, yet it feels sturdy and durable. Since the back is lined with a soft leather-like material, you can easily grip the phone in your hand while making a call or checking messages.

Everyone wants a phone that does it all - emailing, messaging, net surfing, you name it! Companies like Samsung are jumping on the smartphone bandwagon by creating more slimmer, sleek and smarter phones. "The pressure on mobile professionals and business consumers to stay wired into their e-mail and Internet while away from the office continues to grow by leaps and bounds, said Dale Sohn, President, Samsung Telecommunications America.

Gearing up to hit store shelves next Tuesday, the Samsung Jack from AT&T is a nice cross between the BlackJack and BlackJack II except it offers Windows Mobile 6.1, WiFi and a 3.2-megapixel camera. And just like the BlackJack II (and the iPhone), it will work on AT&T's 3G network, so you're guaranteed speedy Internet browsing, emailing, and SMS-ing.
The phone also features video-capture capabilities, GPS-based applications, and all the goodies you'd find in Windows Mobile like the ability to manage Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from your phone.

I guess you could say I've been on a bit of a movie kick lately, seeing Iron Man and all its tech treats two short weeks ago and then back to the theaters this past weekend for some hilarious What Happens in Vegas action.
This movie features Cameron Diaz who plays Joy, a stockbroker from Manhattan, and the leading man Jack, played by Ashton Kutcher. Both meet in Vegas for a wild night out on the town and find themselves dealing with a lot more than they bargained for once the night is over.

As far as I'm concerned MTV's new teenage reality show Newport Harbor will never rival Laguna Beach, or The Hills in the drama or glamor departments, but it might give both shows a run for their money when it comes to number of cell phone and gadgets scenes in each episode. I was flipping through channels the other day and can confirm what communication experts have been saying for months: Teens don't need e-mail, cause they text message.
After a little research (no, I couldn't sit through an episode, but I could do some internet searching) I learned Chrissy has cell phone issues cause her father always calls to check up on her.

Gadgets made to appeal to women often hit the mark, like the chicness of the sleek black exterior of the Armani phone and the innovative iPhone — aesthetic design is a main selling point, after all. I think pink gadgets are cute sometimes, and am glad that the industry caters to all tastes, but I have little patience for the short-sightedness that comes out of "what women want" think tanks — dare I ask if you remember the "ShePhone"?
That's why I was surprised when I saw on Gizmodo that Samsung, the makers of the fabulous Blackjack and aforementioned Armani phone, has created these "fashion phones," the SGH-L310, and the SGH-L320.
