I can't think of much not to love about the Roomba, but there's always room for competition in a market with one really great product.
So, welcome the Panasonic Fukitorimushi (Japanese for "wipe-up bug"), introduced recently at the Tokyo Fiber Senseware exhibition in Milan.
The Fukitorimushi (um, can we please just abbreviate it to "Fuki"?

In the 1986 movie Short Circuit, what is the name of the main robot (i.e., what he calls himself)?

You're a crafty bunch, so I know you're going to love this. On a recent trip to SF's Japantown, I stopped in to one of the many bookstores and found this awesome amigurumi craft book that includes two of my favorite things: robots and DIY. Called Crobots, this gem contains 20 patterns to make your own crocheted robots to post on your desk, and show off at work.

Last year's futuristic flick Wall-E has inspired a whole generation of robot-loving tots. If your child covets electro-mechanical life forms spruce up his living space with a little computer love.
These smart iRobot iHelp wall mounts ($22-$55) hold up jackets and bags with their iron grip hook hands and are hip enough they won't make design conscious parents wince.

I'm used to seeing cute little robot accessories, and there's even some that are nice enough to wear in public — which this Robo Necklace by Catherine Michiels definitely is. In fact, it's so nice, it's made of 14 karat gold, rubies, and diamonds, which conspire to make the $815 price tag.
I think it's rad that something so geeky is getting the gold treatment, but if you're dropping that kind of coin, would you want something a little more .

OK, he doesn't really say "bless you," but the Robot Tissue Box Holder ($25) does kindly dispense your tissues.
His role distributing paper goods seems mildly familiar though, doesn't it?. .

I don't know what I like more, robots or dancing. So imagine my delight when I don't have to choose.

The robot army is winning! I already showed you a few ways robots have infiltrated home decor, and they're on their way to a total takeover with these Robot Hand Towels, $15 each.
Each soft towel is embroidered with an exuberant robot, but don't be fooled: They want to take over.

I check in daily with Dvice, not only because of its gadget coverage, but also because of its sweet sci-fi influence. So just in case you aren't familiar (and if not, why?), let me introduce you to one of Dvice's endearingly geeky contributors — and one of this year's Geeks We Love — Kevin Hall. Recent Brooklyn transplant, this geek hottie has traveled the world, seen (almost) everything, and can still say that robots are his favorite thing .

I've shown you how to feather your nest with robot decor for the home; now, get in your home with the help of a robot. New from Fred & Friends, these Robo Keys key toppers will take you to your leader (providing your leader's on the other side of a locked door).
These are brand spankin' new, so they're not available quite yet, but Perpetual Kid will have them later this month; you can sign up with them for an update on when they're in — and you should, since they're just $5.
