Xobni: Big Brother, or Useful Email Tool?

What would you say to an add-on for your email client that would track what times you read your emails at, what time your co-workers read their emails from you, the time of day you liked to compose emails, and how long it takes you to reply? And then have all that info given to your boss and co-workers?Because to me, it sounds a little like 1984. This is what Outlook extension Xobni promises to do. By piggybacking on your email application, Xobni is an investigative, analytical little bugger that makes me kind of nervous (Oy, remember Beacon?). There are certainly useful tools from Xobni, too; when you get an email from a contact, your email history with them will pop up, as well as their contact info and LinkedIn profile. Xobni also stresses that you must opt-in for their service to analyze your email habits.Still, I'm a little wary of something tracking my every email move. What's your take?Source

I'm all for online privacy. Sure, the world knows all about my techie habits, interests and reviews, but when it comes to posting things for the whole web to see, I like to think I keep it appropriate. In fact, I make it a personal policy to only post content I wouldn't mind my boss, parents or ex seeing online.

Is It Wrong To Look At Your Partner’s Web History?

My boyfriend recently came into the living room and interrupted one of my wild crossword puzzle tangents asking me a much dreaded question: Do you still read your ex’s blog? While the answer is yes, (who doesn’t? or wouldn’t?) I felt trapped. I hadn’t told any of our leaky-lipped friends I’d been keeping up on my ex’s new job and relationship via his painfully descriptive blog so visions of a hidden camera system and night goggles filled my head. How had my boyfriend learned of my online sleuthing? He’d trolled through the browser history in search of a wet-suit manufacturer he’d found a week before and in his quest, "checked out" my recent page history. So, is it wrong or right?

Yes. It’s totally wrong to look at your partner’s web history.
