The Open Table app for the iPhone has changed my mobile dining life, but even if you're not an iPhone user, you can now get in on this action.
Open Table has launched free mobile apps for both the Palm Pre and the BlackBerry!
Open Table jumped on the mobile trend early, and I'm glad to see them making their way into non-Apple app stores as well.

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal that reviewed online dining reservation applications prompted a discussion I had with PartySugar about the preferred method for booking reservations. If possible, I'll score a reservation online; it's convenient and sites such as OpenTable offer incentive points for doing so. Party, however, always prefers to book over the phone; she believes it's easier to get a reservation that way.

The other day, I was on OpenTable to book a reservation at Range, a popular restaurant in San Francisco, and the online service prompted me to enter in my credit card number. It may not be the norm, but some restaurants — like Agave and Momofuku Ko — stand by this policy. Although it could seem risky to reveal a credit card number before any sort of purchase has been made, the practice seems to make sense for those restaurants who would have lost significant business due to no-shows.

What's a fab life in the city without an easy way to make restaurant reservations?
OpenTable, the website that made my life easier years ago when they let me make online reservations for dining out pleased me again a few months ago when it became mobile-browser friendly, but it has outdone itself this time with an iPhone App of the same name.
It's free and does just what the website does — and is actually even better, because it can utilize the iPhone's GPS and tell you the nearest 20 restaurants!

Making online dinner reservations is a breeze thanks to OpenTable, a site that allows you to pick the time and date of your dinner reservation without having to deal with the traditional method of calling a restaurant and being put on hold.
Yesterday, Open Table launched OpenTable Mobile, a cell phone friendly site that gives you the freedom of booking tables while on the go. Perfect for those evenings when you are out and about and decide you need a reservation stat, just get on your phone and book it instantly.

While they're nothing new to the world of restaurant dining, lately fixed-price menus have become more prevalent. Last month, as the nation's economy reached record lows, online reservation system OpenTable promoted its Appetite Stimulus Plan, a three-course, prix fixe promotional offering at restaurants in 13 US cities. I've noticed a number of San Francisco dining spots with set menu bargains, and New York establishments are also suggesting several courses for a steal.
