I can't believe I'm already talking about heading back to school. It feels like just yesterday I was waxing poetic about beach gadgets, and here I am talking about which ones to toss in your new Fall bag. Your very stylish bag I'd expect, much like the Hayden-Hartnett Ibiza ($200) number that I just can't get enough of. But what will you toss in this roomy tote that will help you score As on your many future term papers? New MacBook Airs at WWDC!

What could you want to hear about next, after the announcement of juiced up, lower-priced MacBook Pro at WWDC? How about its baby brother?

"To complete the picture," Philip Schiller said, the MacBook Air is also receiving a price cut. The 1.8 ghz will now start at $1,499, and the 2.13 ghz version is now starting at $1,799.

In addition, Schiller called out the greenness of Apple's laptop computers. The environmentally friendly Macs meet stringent EP Gold Standard and the brand-new Energy Star Level 5. They are, he and the screen say, the "World's Greenest Lineup of Notebooks."

Cameron Diaz Is Wired With a MacBook Air and a Kindle

I'm so used to seeing Cameron Diaz with her BlackBerry that I had to do a double take when I realized the actress was spotted holding a laptop - an actual MacBook Air and a first-gen Kindle - today in New York City. She must have wanted to show off the gadget goods because we all know her oversized handbags would easily hold her wallet, cell, day planner, a Kindle and a teeny weeny Air. Though, I must say, the sweater matching the laptop and Kindle case is pretty geek chic.

How to Extend Your MacBook's Battery Life

Yesterday, PetSugar asked me a great question - how can she extend the life of the battery in her new MacBook Air? I gave her some of my "battery-saving" tips, but I didn't know if her notebook should be plugged in all day when it's turned off (and fully charged) - something she was concerned about, and something I do all of the time. Keep reading to find out the answers to some of the most popular MacBook battery conundrums.

When you first receive your MacBook, make sure you fully charge the battery before use.
MacBooks use lithium ion batteries, which means they don't have to be completely drained to prevent the memory effect. Completely running them out actually reduces their capacity.
According to Apple, it's important to keep the electrons in the battery moving occasionally, but they do not recommend leaving your laptop plugged in all the time.
Basically, it's best to keep your battery's juices flowing. Therefore, if you use it on the bus on the way to work, then plug it in all day while at work, that's actually good for it.

If you don't use your MacBook regularly, you should set a reminder to charge and discharge the battery at least once per month.
And if you are away for more than six months, Apple recommends storing your battery in a cool place with a 50 percent charge. Therefore, completely shut it down with a 50 percent charge, since sleep mode still uses power from the battery to maintain your laptop's memory.
Apple periodically releases updates that may improve battery performance, so make sure you install the updates!

Would You Rather: MacBook Air or MSI X320?

We've heard this all before: MSI introduced an ultralight and portable laptop at CES yesterday that is touted to be an "Air Killer." Humm, I'm not so sure about that just yet, but it is a 2.9 pound, 1.98 centimeter package with a 13-inch widescreen (16:9) display (virtually a Macbook Air clone), so it's sounding pretty good so far.

What's the biggest jaw dropper about the MSI? The price tag that starts at a whopping $1100 dollars cheaper than the Air at $700 bucks. Now, of course I'd need to know more details (ports, memory, hard drive space, etc.), but the X320 is looking pretty darn nice, especially since saving money is kinda key right now.

The New MacBook Air Details!

Steve has just announced the new MacBook Air in addition to the new Pros; the big changes here are in hard-drive size (they've gone up to 120 GB from 80 GB) and graphics - they're now four times as fast.

The size stays the same at a 13.3-inch display; the lower level price is $1,799, and the version with the faster processor and solid state drive is $2,499.
