Look of the Day: In Love With Floral

There's no denying - I'm in love with floral, and totally smitten with TembemNORA's take on it. The bold aqua hue of her cropped top plays a cheeky opposite to the deep florals in her skirt. Topped with a feather headband and smart t-strap flats, she's downright demure and completely chromatic.

Love It or Hate It? Flora Pouf

As if I didn't have enough poufs to choose from, now I've found one that's made from flowers. The Flora Pouf ($549) features hundreds of laser-cut wool flowers that create an organic, tousled alternative to the sleeker Moroccan poufs I've often featured. Are you a fan? Or is it too busy for you?

Inspired: Big, Bold Florals

I love this informal painting from artist Cy Twombly, which was featured during the preview of the newly built Brandhorst Museum in Munich, Germany. Inspired by the big, messy floral pattern in the painting, I thought I'd see if I could find anything similarly inspiring in the home decor world.

One favorite that instantly came to mind was the Terai Folding Chair ($198) from Anthropologie. While I was skeptical of this chair when I saw it in the catalog, after checking it out in person, I have to say that I'm crushing a little on the design and textile patterns used in the Terai. It's also surprisingly sturdy.

Trend Alert: Floral Corset

I am currently stuck in a bit of a wardrobe rut. I have many big, billowing tops which I had been teaming with skinny jeans, however, the new season has brought a new trouser shape which is causing problems! This Spring trousers are baggy around the hips (think harem pants or carrot leg trousers) so teaming with an oversized blouse is very unflattering.

The solution comes in the shape of figure hugging tops like these floral corsets. Mischa Barton has already sported the style, which is a softer take on the traditional corset. There's no denying that florals have taken over the world of fashion this Summer and will continue to reign through the winter. Tiers and ruffles too have gradually encroached on our wardrobe. However, you can have too much of a good thing. When ruffles met florals for this dress, there was a risk that it could be over powering but these girls took on the challenge. Heidi Range was spotted in her dress at the Isle of Wight festival back in June and she teamed it with a cute pink bolero. Nikki was spotted in hers yesterday and wore it alone. Who do you think wore it better?

Summer Style: Flower Arranging Tips From Paul Lowe

It seems like I'm not the only one who thinks that one rule of Summer style should be keeping things simple. Interior and food stylist Paul Lowe, whose gorgeous floral arrangements I featured earlier this week, agrees that simple presentations can make a huge visual impact when it comes to flowers. I asked him if he could provide CasaSugar readers with some simple Summer styling techniques when it came to flowers, and he happily agreed.

Here's one of Paul's flower tips:

"When I work with flowers I always try to keep it simple. I don't like mixing too many types of flowers in a vase. I believe that one kind of flower in a vase makes a bigger statement then a mix of flowers. If you want to use a mix, put them in separate vases.

Paul also advises, "When you work with flowers you will always have some flower heads that fall of the stems. Don't throw them away. Fill eggcups with water and place the flower heads in them. This looks very cute on a side table."

My favorite Hills girl Whitney Port traded her red brocade Nicole Miller dress for something a little more vibrant and trendy while having lunch with a gal pal. We've been seeing florals quite a bit lately, but Whitney shows us the trend has yet to be exhausted. To mellow out the loudness of the dress, she accessorized with a gray scarf and a black satchel. Throw in some metallic flats, a cool pair of rounded shades, and you have one fashionable reality starlet.

Topshop Balenciaga-Inspired Floral Zip Jacket: Love It or Hate It?

Most of you don't like Balenciaga's Spring collection (tear) but what if I told you you could buy a similar look for way less? Would the considerably lower price change your mind? If so, Topshop just came out with this Balenciaga-inspired Floral Zip Jacket ($130) that I think is darling. It's bound to make any pair of jeans fancy and more interesting. I especially love the puff sleeves and asymmetrical zipper. What do you think?
