I've been anxiously waiting to get my hands on the Canon Rebel T1i since its release in May, so you can imagine how quickly I ripped open the box when it arrived! I was stoked that Canon could pack such awesome pro options in a camera tagged with a smaller, more manageable consumer price ($899).
For me, the most exciting features coming with Canon's new 15.1 megapixel DSLR are the full HD 1080p video capabilities, a built-in dust removal system, the fun "creative auto" modes that let you experiment with different variations on the regular auto functions, and it also comes stocked with the same light sensor that you'll find on the Canon 50D — a decidedly more "prosumer" camera but that comes with a much bigger price tag.

Just cause you're taking off for your honeymoon doesn't mean you have to leave all of your gadgets at home! Sure, you probably want to disconnect from your work and home lives for a bit (which means leaving that BlackBerry and work laptop behind), but all that time on the beach not only means soaking up some rays but also catching up on your Buzz-assigned homework. Check out some digital goodies that are totally honeymoon (and geek) approved in this slideshow!

Instead of carrying around (or searching your apartment for) your camera's data transfer cable to move your photos to your computer, pick up an inexpensive memory card reader to take the cable's place.
These little guys are easy to use with all types of memory cards, and this Aluratek Card Reader I found at Target for $15 can read nine different types of cards (from Memory Sticks to MiniSD) and plugs right into your computer's USB port. I tested it out over the past week and it worked great!

I love the newer versions of iPhoto for many reasons, one of them being the face recognition feature. Just tag a photo with a person's name and highlight their face, and iPhoto neatly organizes all the photos with them in it. Perfect for when you need to find a specific shot or you want to rag on a certain someone for all those late-night debauchery pics you've collected over the years.

Although we are in the midst of some scary financial times, the earth does not stop spinning, and the gadgets won't stop coming. So instead of depriving yourself of a new gadget (or two) this year, save up your dough (be careful with those credit cards!), and splurge on one of these "recession-approved" gadgets. Why are they recession approved?

Are you a megapixel hoarder, just waiting for them to up the total in your next new digital camera? Well, exec Akira Watanabe of Olympus says that 12 megapixels is plenty — "enough for covering most applications most customers need."
I have to agree with him, especially that considering once you get to a certain point, the average person doesn't need that many megapixels, considering what most people end up doing with their photos.

Have you been waiting for a point-and-shoot digital camera that can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'? The PowerShot D10 is one of the most appealing models in Canon's refreshed line of cameras, due to its 12-megapixel sensor and ability to go underwater, in freezing temperatures, and resistance to being dropped (if you're prone to that . .

Although I was smitten by the bright and rugged Olympus Stylus 790 SW I was still afraid that I would drop it on a recent skiing trip, and shatter it to pieces. That or end up cracking the screen while hiking in the sierras. Either way, I was still gingerly handling this baby like it was made of glass.

If you are the business type, you've probably been in this situation before: You're in a brainstorming meeting, and your boss is scribbling all over the whiteboard. After everyone's tossed out their ideas, you have a ton of info on said whiteboard to transfer into your notebook. It's not only a boring task, but you're liable to forget something, or worse, run out of room.

Maybe the geek gods will be answering your prayers this Christmas by popping a new SLR digital camera under the tree. Or maybe you already have one of the most popular SLRs on the market today — a Canon Rebel digital cam — and you're still trying to learn all of its bells and whistles. I came across this video tutorial, which goes through various handy steps for using the Canon Rebel.
