If you find yourself in South Korea in search of a massage, if you visit a legal parlor, you won't even need a towel for modesty. That's because for the past century the job of masseur has been reserved for the legally blind. Just over 7,000 blind people with magic fingers work in 1,000 massage parlors throughout the country, but it's not enough to keep up with demand.

It's wonderful that electronics designers are starting to take disabilities into consideration — even if they first start with a hack, like that Rock Band mod for wheelchairs.
This concept design is a camera — for the blind. Called the TouchSight, it would utilize Braille and the other senses to both take photos and then download them later.

United States currency discriminates against the blind, according to a federal appeals court ruling handed down today. Because the dollar amounts of same-size skrilla are not distinguishable by touch, the visually impaired suffer unreasonably.
The Treasury Department fell short of demonstrating why it would be too burdensome to design distinguishable dollars.

It's not that the trailer for The Blind Side isn't compelling; the problem is that it combines Sandra Bullock's twangiest, most-over-the top lines with a heartrending song, which makes it seem schlocky. That's exactly what I expected from the movie, but I have to admit that I was wrong — to my surprise, I found it to be a sentimental gem that's actually quite restrained.
The Blind Side is the true story (based on Michael Lewis's book) of NFL player Michael Oher, who grew up in Memphis's projects with his drug-addicted mother and landed in and out of foster homes.

Bamboo blinds are an ideal way to give your home privacy without blocking out all of the light. I also love their rich, brown hue, and that they're made of a sustainable material. In any case, Spencer and Heidi seem pretty happy to be in the presence of these blinds.

If you're visiting (or living in) Manhattan, you must go to Pearl River, an emporium for all beautiful Oriental things. Inventory runs the gamut from delicate dishes for less than a dollar to hand-painted cabinets for $1,350, so there's something for everyone. Right now, Pearl River is offering these 1/2-inch Slate Bamboo Blinds ($38.15, reduced from $54.50) for 30 percent off, as well as a few other blinds on sale.

The Blind Side, which opens today, promises to be a tearjerker. The movie, which is based on the true story captured in Michael Lewis's book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Touhy, the Christian, Southern mom who takes in Michael Oher, played by Quinton Aaron. Touhy's house is pretty standard for an upper-middle-class Southern family, but one element that caught my eye were these white dining chairs.

Blind dates can be really fun if you get set up by someone who knows you really well (dating your mailman's son may not be the best idea), but I know people who refuse because they've had horrible experiences in the past. Maybe the guy was texting his ex-girlfriend while watching a movie with you, or perhaps he kept reaching over to your plate at dinner to help himself to your meal. To see a blind date start off on the wrong foot, watch this comical clip below.

I've been set up on a blind date or two and I'm not aching for another. Personally, I haven't had much luck; I always end up with either awkward silences, guys who can't stop talking about themselves, or groping hands under the dinner table. I guess it depends on who you're set up with because my good friend has been dating a guy for over a year that her co-worker begged her to meet.

A co-worker of mine set me up on a blind date. I'm fresh out of a relationship so she was trying to do me a favor, but truth be told, she doesn't know me that well so I was a little apprehensive about the kind of guy she'd pair me with.
Once I got his name, I immediately searched for him on Facebook and lo and behold, I found him.
