When I was a kid, I had the pink striped monogrammed beanbag chair from Lillian Vernon that every other child in America had. It was indulgently comfortable, and the perfect size for a little girl like me, but it certainly didn't win any design awards. Even if you have a chic bean bag chair, I think we should leave the oversize, polypropylene-filled cushions to the kids or the students.

The makers of the SlouchPod claim that this interactive chair represents the next generation in Beanbags. I was never a huge fan of beanbag chairs, but this one may be an exception as it is completely wired for gaming and entertainment purposes. The SlouchPod features a digital control panel for mp3 players, games consoles, your TV or DVD, a computer or stereo.

Fatboy, usually the purveyor of chic beanbag chairs, is bringing their casual modernity to gadget sleeves.
The Fatboy Undercover line includes soft, suede cases for laptops, cameras, and MP3 players constructed simply. I can imagine that that fabric makes for a nice, easy slide into another bag.

We've seen our fair share of techie chairs - from the iMedia chair, which looks like something that belongs in a hospital building, to the Souchpod chair, which is a fancy beanbag chair with digital control panels for mp3 players, games consoles, your TV or DVD, a computer or stereo. What we haven't seen is a chair that can take you on a magical, spirit lifting trip at the sound of your voice. The Inada Robo Chair Massage Recliner with Voice-activated System may do just that.

I never imagined myself describing a bean-bag chair as crave worthy. This Verzelloni Zoe Chair (price unlisted), the traditional bean bag's older, cooler sister, is an exception though. Not only does the chair look extremely comfortable, (and filled with polystyrene pearls, how could it not be?) but its relaxed, '60s look and shape is elegant enough to show off.

The Octopus Chair (price unlisted), fashioned from pairs of recycled jeans and polystyrene balls, is a multi-shape beanbag and a cross "between a chair and a lounge sculpture," allowing you "to adapt your seating to your interior." In some cases of weird furniture, I am willing to suspend my inclination towards normalcy in favor of something that is "weird" yet still cool and "artsy." But dear Mr. Octopus, I do not like you, find you cool or artsy, or care that you can transform into multi-shapes.
