The spectacular Times Square New Year's Eve celebration is already going to be that much more entertaining this year with the bigger Times Square LED-covered ball, and now Duracell has announced that they will power the ball with batteries charged by people.
They've recently built a "power lodge" in Times Square, which features rows of bicycles with generators that are connected to massive batteries. Visitors are able to take part in the pedal power that will provide enough power for the batteries to last 10 to 15 minutes during the live show.

This year, when the Times Square Ball drops at 11:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve, it will be bigger than ever, at double the size of any other Ball in history, and nearly 12,000 pounds heavy. However, this ball, which is lit up by 32,256 Philips Luxeon Rebel LEDs, is also decidedly green: It only uses as much energy as two household ovens.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson went out again in South Beach last night before their New Year's Eve party at Mansion in Miami. Samantha continues to talk about how she's recovering from her hospital scare, saying, "Lots of sleep, movies and meals outside of airports will do wonders." Don't know how much sleep these two are getting hitting the clubs but thanks to a new truce with Michael Lohan after last week's mess, hopefully the girls will be able to relax and enjoy each other's company when the ball drops at midnight.
