My ongoing struggle with Netflix is that it can never really recommend the right movies for me. It tells me that it thinks I'll like flicks I've seen and flicks I know I'll hate, so I usually just ignore that they even try. As for music, I get my recs from word-of-mouth, by friends whose taste I completely trust.

Jonathan Antin—star of the reality show Blowout and creator of the fabulous Dirt Texturizing Paste—feels very strongly about water. Throughout his two-decade career styling the hair of celebrities, models, and other clients, he has observed that hair is extremely affected by the quality of the water in which it is washed. Pure, filtered spring water creates softer, shinier, and more manageable hair, while water full of chemicals often makes your locks dry and brittle.

I've been carrying a reusable water bottle with me for years now, filling up on tap water as needed. Well, portable water just got a little cleaner with the Clear2Go water bottle ($16). It's your standard water bottle with a squeeze top made for cycling, but it comes with its very own water filter.

Though most of us aren't lucky enough to attend the Sundance Film Festival, we've probably all been to events that hand out hundreds and hundreds of plastic water bottles. Last year, Sundance alone gave out 50,000 single-serve bottles, most of which just end up in landfills.
So for the 2009 festival, which kicks off this Thursday, Sundance is partnering with an organization called FilterForGood, which is devoted to reducing bottled-water waste.

If you have allergies or asthma, chances are you're also sensitive to dust mites. While you can't see these icky, little bugs (they're microscopic), that doesn't mean they're not lurking in your home. Dust mites love to hang out in warm and cozy spots such as carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, and beds.

The cost of maintaining a home and appliances is often a major deterrent for those debating whether to rent or purchase a home. The unexpected expense of fixing leaky gutters and broken dishwashers can be budget breaking if it comes at the wrong time of month. Not to mention it's a huge pain.

You all know I am all about hydration. I even made a cool little water calculator so you can compute how much water you should be drinking! Now, if you drink a lot of bottled water, I am urging your to take a minute and weigh your convenience against the environmental impact of all that plastic.
