Listen to Music and Make Phone Calls While You Ski

I'm not a skier, but most of my friends are, and I'm consistently jealous of all of the awesome geeky ski and snowboard equipment they have. I got a chance to try out the Radiance jacket, which keeps you warm and charges your iPod, but when my friend sent me a snapshot of his latest purchase, I had a total geek-out at my desk. It's a ski helmet outfitted with Skullcandy headphones and Bluetooth.

Now he'll be able to listen to music and answer the phone while hitting the slopes. To be honest, I think this is only a good idea if you're a fairly capable and focused skier (after all, some of us can't even walk and talk on the phone without an accident), but it's a pretty cool way to stay connected and entertained.

Skullcandy Brings the Noise With the Pipe iPod Speaker Dock

When I first saw the Skullcandy iPod Speaker Dock ($70) at Target, I questioned how good the quality could be from something so compact. But after testing it out myself, I take back all the doubt I had previously cast upon it.

Coming with a battery-powered remote and charging cable, the Skullcandy Pipe is perfect for the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, or even the living room if you're looking for a full sound in a smaller space. I had this playing at a recent family holiday party, and it provided the perfect amount of background music to keep the party going into the night. The remote gets great range, and just four AAA batteries seem to last quite awhile if you aren't using the included charging cable. Although the sound is crisp and clear from the two end speakers, you can't blast your tunes without hearing some groggy bass. This is unfortunate, but that's not to say this baby doesn't get loud - it does! Also, I would have liked to have tested out the Pipe with my iPhone (which houses a ton of my music), but when I plugged my iPhone in, I got an error message saying that the iPhone wasn't compatible with the unit - although a friend has one and she says it works with her iPhone! Overall, the Skullcandy Pipe is a great portable device that pumps out some pretty great sounds, and works with any generation iPod. I do wish the price point was a little lower (say around $50), but it's a great product nonetheless. Lesson learned: never judge a book by its cover, or an iPod dock by its size!

Skullcandy Wooden Earbuds: Love or Leave?

I've seen a lot of wooden gadgets, and I've seen a lot of Skullcandy stuff; now it appears they have met, dated, and had a baby. I give you: Skullcandy's Wooden Earbuds ($99).

The woodgrain on these make you look like an earth-crunchy eco-fiend - and are probably the cleanest design on a Skullcandy product that I've seen. You don't have to worry about hurting your ear canal with wood, either - there are rubber pads, of course.

What do you think of these? Taking the wood tech thing too far, or right on trend?

Skullcandy Brings It With the Pipe iPod Dock

I usually associate Skullcandy with badass-looking headphones, but they also make equally cool-looking iPod accessories, like this Pipe iPod Dock ($90).

It may be less eco than the Vers iPod Dock I posted last week, but it has a similar look with its wood grain. And even if you've given up your iPod Classic in favor of an iPhone, Skullcandy's model is also iPhone compatible!

Macworld 2008: Skullcandy Brings the Party to Macworld

There was a party happening at Macworld yesterday, and it was in the Skullcandy booth! A live DJ was spinning some tunes while I checked out their large inventory of hip and edgy products which not only included their signature headphones, but mp3 players, iPod Docks and backpacks as well! I have to say that there was one MP3 player in particular that instantly caught my eye. Appropriately dubbed "The Macgyver", this baby stores up to 1G of music in-wait for it-a watch! This may be old news to some of you, but this watch is totally stylish and comes in two flavors, pink and black, so it's sure to suit everyone's tastes. But dual functionality watches were not the only products being offered up from Skullcandy, there were many other items I wanted to take home. Glamorous Pink and White Skullcandy Headphones

I'll admit I used to be a timid, earbud kind of woman, but after my liberating experience with the Ableplanet Headphones these Skullcandy Hesh Headphones are at least worth a once over.

Adorned with soft leather touch earpads and a leather headwrap,
each pair of Hesh headphones has built-in power drivers and sound boosters. I suppose their bright color does make them perfect for groovin' out poolside!

Also included with each pair is a home stereo adapter and travel bag. Priced at $50.

I totally underestimated the fab and functional factor of larger headphones before, so I'd be willing to give these babies a test, but I also think if you're gonna go big, you should go big. Meaning, if you think you want giant headphones test a few out before you make a purchase - it's worth it to spend a little extra money for a top brand.
