September was a big month for The Beatles in the gaming world when The Beatles Rock Band hit the market. I went crazy over it during a sneak peek at E3, and was not disappointed when I got my own copy. Although The Beatles have not always been so chummy with tech, times are a-changing as Sgt.

Following in the footsteps of this Fall's release of The Beatles Rock Band, similarly seminal band The Who may also get their own version of the game. Roger Daltrey has been quoted as saying that it's planned for next year, but the news is still unconfirmed by reps for the game. More certain is the fact that you probably won't be able to smash the peripherals when you're done playing.

Last Sunday during the Primetime Emmy Awards, red carpet host Chris Harrison jokingly asked Flight of the Conchords duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement if they had any plans for a Flight of the Conchords debut on Rock Band.
A serious-sounding Bret leaned forward into the microphone and said, "We have three songs on the next Rock Band." A lot of people think he's joking, but I detected a note of seriousness.

As if there wasn't already amazing upcoming Rock Band news, there's more: the next big breakthrough coming soon is the Rock Band Network, which will allow you to convert any recorded song to be used in Rock Band play.
Being able to convert songs won't be free — it'll cost about $160 and be a very technical process, Harmonix warns. The network will be available for Xbox 360 users, and then later to PS3 users, and it's geared toward songwriters who can also code.

The countdown to September 9 has begun. That's the date Beatles Rock Band is released, and until then, I can't get enough of the stunning videos of the game that are serving as teasers.
The latest is this "music video" for "Ticket to Ride" — which also gives you another look at what game play will be like.
