What do George Lucas and the new Droid have in common? More than you'd think! I'm stoked to get my hands on the new device being offered up by Motorola to see if it really can top my iPhone, but when I got an invite to the San Francisco launch party I noticed something interesting at the bottom: the word "droid" is licensed to Lucasfilm LTD, which means Motorola pays a fee to the Star Wars icon to use his trademarked term.

Last week I told you about the new Motorola Cliq Android handset, which will soon be coming to T-Mobile. The actual look and feel of the phone doesn't really differ that much from your standard smartphone, but what is unique about the Cliq is the MotoBlur interface, which equips the phone with some fancy features. Here's a little demo I had which showcases MotoBlur's many functions, most notably, the social integration.

- This kinda surprised me. Motorola's RAZR V3 is still the top-selling handset in the United States. It was launched 2.5 years ago, and has just sold its 50 millionth unit.

Hello, Gossip Girl props! It seems that the scheming characters of the CW's Gossip Girl are a little careless with their cell phones — or does disposable income just allow them to have a cell phone for one episode and then upgrade? It began with Serena Van Der Woodsen, who was spotted in an early episode of the show with an unmistakable iPhone, pictured.

California's hands-free wireless telephone law may have taken effect July 1, but celebs like Seal and David Beckham were already ready for the big day since they are both avid bluetooth headset users. "Whenever I’m driving around L.A. or heading to practice, I use my Motorola H12 to keep me connected to my mobile phone," says Beckham.
