Every couple of days we run across items so geeky we can't even begin to explain them. We politely refer to them as "Moments of Geek," as in a short fact, tidbit, video or picture that's not worthy of a whole feature story, but is worthy of a moment of your time.
Today's example comes to you courtesy of Muppet creator Jim Henson, who created the "computer monster" sketch in the early 1960s.

It's been a big month for childhood icons: Legos and Smurfs turned 50, and now, Fraggle Rock is available on iTunes!
The first season of Fraggle Rock can be downloaded now, with more to come in the future. It and cult sci-fi show Farscape both hit iTunes this week, and the Jim Henson Company plans to put more shows online soon.

Normally, learning that a remake of Pinocchio is in development might make me roll my eyes and mourn for my lost childhood — you know, things like that. But something tells me this dark and twisted remake is going to be different.
For one thing, it's got Guillermo Del Toro behind it as an executive producer, and if ever there was a person who could create a good "fractured fairytale" remake of this story, I'd think he'd be the one.

One day after music's biggest stars gathered in LA for the Grammys, many of them reconvened at the Jim Henson studios yesterday to record a new version of "We Are the World." The premiere of the single, which benefits Haiti, will take place during the Feb. 12 broadcast of the Vancouver Olympics opening ceremony on NBC.

The stars lit up Los Angeles last night at the People's Choice Awards. The red carpet was full of gorgeous women in their dazzling dresses, from Nicole Scherzinger's floor-length gold number to Diane Kruger's tight white mini. Olivia Wilde stole the show for me in her fairytale full skirt, while Sandra Bullock went nude and Carrie Underwood had the best accessory of all: her engagement ring!
