We're used to seeing the Hollywood-created worlds of The Hills and Gossip Girl translated into virtual communities in Second Life, but who says we can't see objects from Second Life make their way into our dimension? Export to World is a project that aims to copy objects from Second Life's walled economy of simulated things. According to the website:
We export those into the real world by transforming them into life-size papercraft models.

After embittered battles this year over Roquefort, beef, and Coca-Cola, France has decided it needs to show the rest of the world some love. Concerned that outsiders perceive two of France's top exports, wine and cheese, to be unapproachable, the French government, with the help of local producers, has agreed to spend $2.1 million to sponsor cocktail parties in 19 different countries. While many events around the globe will take place in large convention centers, the program in the US will be different.

After the dicey financial day yesterday, the news that America's #1 export isn't cars or clothes, but debt might not be so surprising. With Henry Paulson saying, "This is a humbling, humbling time for the United States of America," and this piece in Time magazine asserting that "the US will simply be steering toward another, even bigger, crisis unless it finds something to replace debt as its #1 export," maybe it's time to consider it? Last night while I was watching the Grammys, my ears perked up when the president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Neil Portnow began addressing a certain two-time Grammy winner directly — President Barack Obama.
Potnow wasted little time getting to his point: He wants the president to create a new cabinet position, namely secretary of the arts. On stage he persuaded:And to our new president, we have a request: Our finest national treasure is our culture and the arts.

From rising avocado prices to the McDonald's Dollar Menu falling on hard times, over the last year, every section of the food industry has paid the price of cost increases. One segment of the food world, however, seems to have taken an opposite turn.
Prices of dairy products have seen a downward trend, as the weakening global economy has caused demand to decrease for US exports like milk.

Britain saw £9.7 billion in new business last year, thanks to its role as the world's biggest arms exporter. The country's Minster for Trade and Investment boasted that the achievement highlights that the UK has "some of the world's most technologically sophisticated companies." Britain beat out the US, who was the five-time defending defense champion, as well as Russia.

After hearing of the $700 billion bailout, it's hard to imagine a crevice the world's financial trouble won't seep into, though this one does take some thinking.
