At the risk of dating myself, I'm just going to put it out there that I was a huge Doogie Howser, MD fan. In fact, I couldn't have been more ecstatic a few years ago when Neil Patrick Harris made a triumphant comeback with Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, which of course led to his awesome role as Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother. I watch NPH on HIMYM — a slick, chic geek with his iPhone — and then I remember that this is not the first time he's showcased his onscreen geekiness.

I loyally tuned in to Doogie Howser, M.D. back in the day, waiting for him to start abusing prescription pills or run an underground clinic where he prescribed narcotics to the kids at school. But this was wholesome family programming; my alternate plots were a long shot.

If I wanted to, I could probably do a TV tech quiz for How I Met Your Mother — you wouldn't think, but this ensemble of friends in NYC is pretty wired — especially my favorite character, Barney. I've Ioved NPH since Doogie Howser, MD, and as Barney I love him more — he's got an iPhone, a MacBook Pro — and talks in tech (and text) speak 24/7! A little bit creep but a lot of geek, Barney killed me in this clip from last week's episode after a scandalous romp with Ted's ex-girlfriend Robin.

Neil Patrick Harris — love him — brought his doggie to the Laurel Canyon dog park in LA on Sunday, looking a little forlorn. Brighten up, NPH, there are puppies! One week after Britney's appearance on How I Met Your Mother, I hope some of you stuck around, because last night's episode was hilarious.

I've been getting really giddy lately when I watch movies I've grown up with, and see the old technology that was hot at that time. I highlighted old Apple IIs and some goofy faux gadgets from Back to the Future 2, Doogie Howser's geeky 80's blogging, and some fabulous old ads. I am even pretty sure I saw my current crush Paul Rudd's Nintendo commercial when it originally aired!

Neil Patrick Harris is the latest celeb to come out thanks to Internet rumors and speculation. I have loved Neil Patrick Harris as Doogie Howser, M.D. and I still love him as the hilarious Barney in How I Met Your Mother.
