As part of our Geeks We Love series, I caught up with a few couples that, through the beauty of the internet and technology have influenced both our lives and each other.
It seems a bit of geekiness comes with the territory of owning your own online business, no matter what your background. If this is true, Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom, who happen to be the owners of hip online store Curiosity Shoppe, wear it well.

First of all, I love it when a store spells its name "Shoppe." It makes me want to say "shoppie," which just sounds cute. And cute is definitely the right word to describe The Curiosity Shoppe, an online store that bills itself as a place for "crafts, kits, and curios for the creatively inclined."

YumSugar told me about The Curosity Shoppe awhile ago, and I've been loving their online store. Last week the physical store opened in San Franciso's Mission District, and Yum stopped in and saw Todd Oldham. The Curiosity Shoppe is helmed by Lauren Smith (who used to work for Oldham) and Derek Fagerstrom, who's the projects editor for ReadyMade magazine, one of our favorites.

The Curiosity Shoppe is now selling Eames House of Cards ($35), a set of medium-sized cards designed by modern design hero Charles Eames in 1952. The deck contains 32 interlocking pieces featuring delightful and colorful images of what Eames and his wife Ray referred to as the "good stuff." Printed on the cards are pictures of "familiar and nostalgic objects from the animal, mineral, and vegetable kingdoms," as well as gorgeous textiles and patterns collected on their world travels.

There's something about mustaches that intrigues me; I'd never want my guy to grow one, but whenever I see a particularly stylized handlebar mustache on a hipster dude, I'm fascinated. This probably also explains my fascination with the Mustache Key Holder ($30). Would you hang it on your wall?

Outlets are usually a source of stress — there's rarely enough of them in your place to feed your gadgets, and they've definitely never been high on any scale of pleasing aesthetic home tech. You could change all that with these 3D Cubic Switchplates ($9), which embrace the utilitarian nature of the outlets and light switches by framing them and making them look a lot cooler. (It worked for cords!)
Of course, I think most people would prefer to camouflage the outlet, especially when it's got cords coming out of its face.

Derek and Lauren — the uber-cute couple behind The Curiosity Shoppe — created an amazing DIY post for design*sponge. In it they ditch homemade candies and teach you how to make melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows. Be sure to watch their absolutely adorable, step-by-step video.

Everyone loves a great apron, but have you ever thought about your oven mitt? An oven mitt is a fantastic way to spruce up your kitchen with a little bit of whimsy and a lot of flair.
I came across these three beautiful oven mitts at the Curiosity Shoppe.
