Though I've never loved the expression, there is some truth to it — there is, in fact, more than one way to skin a cat. It may seem irrelevant in an office job where it seems there's a procedure or a rule book for every task, but thinking outside the box may just be your ticket to getting noticed and working your way up — even in this economy.
Just take a cue from Pat Lencioni, a consultant who crafted a novel approach to writing a business guide — literally — by authoring an unconventional business book, that uses characters and a plot line to get the point across.

The film Julie & Julia, which tells the parallel life tales of chef Julia Child and blogger Julie Powell, comes out today. Julie recently sat down with YumSugar and talked about her Julie/Julia project, where she cooked her way through Julia's cookbook and blogged about it. Julie previously worked a very corporate cubicle job in Manhattan and noted the project was about her "finding my vocation as a writer."

I'm sure you've heard that you have two sides to your brain - the left side and the right side. The left side is responsible for thinking, organizing, and remembering while the right side has to do with creativity, imagination, and feelings.

Shiva Rea is one of my favorite yogis, and I love both her Creative Core Abs, and Creative Core + Lower Body DVDs. So, of course, I was psyched to try the third DVD in her core series, Creative Core + Upper Body ($10). It involves a flowing sequence of core-focused postures that are all about sculpting your abs, back, arms, and shoulders.

Chandelier Creative is a three-year-old, full-service creative agency based in New York City with a focus on fashion, beauty, retail, travel, and luxury lifestyle brands. Among Chandelier's clients are Coca Cola, Four Seasons, Parfums Givenchy, Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Old Navy, Nanette Lepore, and W Hotels. Though the agency's client list is certainly an impressive one, you know me: I find myself more taken with the interior design of its SoHo penthouse, designed by agency owner, Richard Christiansen.

Last week I showed you how to get the Miranda Hobbes look in your home, and FabSugar showed us how to get the Carrie Bradshaw look for Halloween. It’s only fitting now that you learn to be 100% Carrie by also getting her look in your home. I’ve always been a fan of the “lived in” look of Carrie’s apartment.

When I first came across the Karma Creatives brand, I liked the hip pampering products, but I didn't love 'em. The packaging was a little cheesy, and the fruity scents were tad overwhelming. When your brand is all about a gimmick — in this case "karma in a soap," "karma in a can," and so forth — appearances are very important.
