British Mac Adds Called "Too Smug"
Unless you're a real Mac fanatic, or have taken a trip to the UK lately, you probably haven't seen the new UK "Get A Mac" ads, which seem to be stirring up some controversy for how they portray PC users. Says Macworld UK: "These include ‘Naughty Step’ where PC suggests that doing fun stuff should be punishable; ‘Magic’ where PC exchanges a file with Mac to much funfair; and ‘Court’ which examines how easy it is to make a photo book." Last night in New York City, MAC Cosmetics held a private artists' studio tour event for talent that loves and supports their makeup. British clothing designer Gareth Pugh was there with perfectly straightened hair and American frontman for the band Semi Precious Weapons and jewellery designer Justin Tranter was also there with a piecey platinum coif and heavily lined smoky eyes. Tell me, would you rather your guy wear makeup or have hair that takes him longer to style than it takes you?

On Our Radar: VV Brown Rain Poncho
Upcoming style icon and singer VV Brown has been busy preparing for the Summer festivals (of which she is playing many including Glastonbury, Bestival and T in the Park). Clearly this is a girl who is always prepared as she realises the importance of a rain mac in this ever changing British weather. Her eclectic style has already got her noticed by the fashion press and she has spoken about plans to launch her own vintage store, and now she can add designing to her resume as she creates a rain poncho for Orange at Glastonbury.
Stars Turn Out For Glamour Women Of The Year Awards
Loads of stars got dressed up to attend the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards at Berkeley Square Gardens last night. Kylie Minogue continued the celebratory mood since her birthday last week by picking up the big award of the night, Woman of the Year, as well as the Entrepreneur gong. British favourites Alexa Chung and Fearne Cotton won the Presenter and Radio Personality awards respectively, and Katy Perry was named Newcomer of the Year.
Pop Parties: The Brit Awards 2009 Launch & Nominations!
Last night FabUK and I attended The Brit Awards 2009 launch party and nominations announcement show at the Roundhouse in London, where we watched some great performances from Florence and the Machine, Scouting For Girls and Gabriella Cilmi. The event was hosted by Fearne Cotton who looked absolutely gorgeous in her studded black dress, and kept the audience entertained between filming segments of the televised show. Lovely Florence threw flowers out into the audience before her performance, Scouting For Girls got the crowd jumping around with "She's So Lovely" and I spied the new Skins cast, including Kaya Scodelario, dancing in the audience.

Last night at the Metroplitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Gala, British model Agyness Deyn took a nod from Marilyn Monroe when constructing her beauty look. Her silver dress and platinum hair was a clear shout of to Old Hollywood, and her makeup also reflected a classical beauty look with hints of edgy and sexy as a modern twist (note her structured smoky eyes).

There have been a lot of designer/High Street collaborations in the past few weeks so I'll forgive you if you're not completely up to date with this one.
Giles Deacon has been creating a diffusion line for New Look for a couple of seasons and its always of a very high quality. This Spring is no exception as the pieces are a bit more grown up and the fabrics are a bit classier, yet still offered at a bargain price.

Last night I had the pleasure of checking out the second concert in the Grammy Celebration Concert Tour presented by T-Mobile Sidekick here in San Francisco, where N.E.R.D and Natasha Bedingfield hit the stage.
