Baby's brain starts dissolving; 'no hope'
Drug administered; Baby Z wakes up
A MELBOURNE baby given no chance of survival has amazed doctors after being saved with one of the biggest long shots in medical history.
"Baby Z's" brain started virtually dissolving soon after she was born 18 months ago because she had too much toxic sulphite in her system.
But her parents and doctors refused to give in to the one-in-a-million genetic condition and stumbled on a highly experimental drug.

My Letter to the Editorial Page Editor of the L.A. Times Regarding That Fact-Challenged Pro-ACORN Op-Ed Written by the ACORN Consultant
A recent op-ed in your paper defending ACORN makes at least two factual misstatements: 1) that ACORN staff offered to help shield an underage prostitution ring at only two offices, and 2) that no voter fraudulently registered to vote by ACORN had ever actually cast a ballot. Furthermore, your paper failed to disclose that the author of the op-ed, Peter Dreier, has been a (presumably paid) consultant for ACORN in the past .

The Media’s Complicity: Analysis of ACORN Coverage
by Billy Hallowell
The mainstream media were complicit in their coverage of the ACORN scandal. Their behavior was and continues to be an insult to democracy and journalistic responsibility as the Fourth Estate has ignored facts, engaged in one-sided sourcing, and avoided basic and inherently important journalistic questioning.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Times said on Monday it would cut 100 newsroom jobs through buyouts or layoffs as it tries to counter lost advertising revenue.
"Let me cut to the chase: We have been told to reduce the newsroom by 100 positions between now and the end of the year." Times Executive Editor Bill Keller told employees in a memo obtained by Reuters.

Tne reason for the decline of newspaper circulation is that 42 million Americans are illiterate and roughly 50 million more are semi-literate, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Christopher Hedges says. What’s more, he adds, 80 percent of U.S. households last year did not buy a book.

Democrats Called Foley Guilty of Sex Crimes
By Jeffrey Lord
The magic number is 16.
Just last night, on Sean Hannity's Fox Show, ABC's George Stephanopoulos said in defense of the liberal media's non-coverage of Kevin Jennings, that a person's entire career should be taken into consideration before they are sent packing from public service.
Fair enough.

I've been with my boyfriend for almost six years. I'm extremely honest and have told him this since day one. He has always been somewhat shy, but I have found out he's not so shy online.
Last year I became suspicious when he opened a Myspace account. We both always said myspace was not for us. I asked him one day to let me see who he had on myspace and he said "go ahead." I got occupied with something else and forgot to check it out. Once random day, I remembered to ask him again to let me see his account. This time he refused. I naturally became curious. After arguing for awhile he let me check it out. It was pretty normal, until I went through his delete files and found sexual conversations with another girl. They went on about what he wanted to do with her and what she would do to him (it was all oral sex).

Ann Althouse:
Is it wrong for me to wait too long before writing about what the NYT public editor has written about why the NYT took so long to write about the ACORN story?
Somehow I, a lone blogger, feel that it is wrong for me to wait, so how absurd it feels to me that the Times, with all its resources, waited as long as it did.
You can read what the public editor, Clark Hoyt, has to say on the subject here.
