Want to access your Google calendar events on your BlackBerry? Or what about sync up your phone's contacts with your Gmail contacts so you have a backup if you ever lose your phone? Easy peasy thanks to Google Sync for the BlackBerry, which has been around for some time now, but I realize not everyone knows about its fabulosity.

Planning a movie date in the near future and wondering what shows are playing nearest you?
Go to Google and type in 'showtimes' followed by your zip code or location. You can also search for a specific film like the one shown here.

There's no end to the amount of entertainment that Google Maps' Street View provides. I remember when it came out and I thought, cool, I can look at the outside of hotels I'm going to stay in and my house. I didn't dream of the possibilities that could be exploited by a bunch of Google cars until controversy started popping up when it caught some odd and slightly incriminating photos.

When Google acquisitions go wrong: the disappointing story of Urchin
By Ken Fisher | Published: October 08, 2007 - 10:49PM CT
In March of 2005, Google acquired Urchin Software Corporation, a San Diego-based web analytics company. A few short months later, Google Analytics was unveiled, which was based on "Urchin On Demand," Urchin's javascript-based "Software as a Service" (SaaS) web traffic analytics solution. Urchin customers were generally thrilled about the acquisition, because it was assumed that it meant great things were in store for all of Urchin's customers.

Most people think of Google as a mechanical claw toy: They use it to fish a specific piece of information out of the giant pool of data we know as the Web. But turn that thinking upside down and you can see the hidden utility of the service. Rather than trolling for specific bits of data, search for specific kinds of data and you'll uncover all sorts of cool things.

I swear, I really am meaning to take a real vacation soon. I really will get out of this chair and see what the world has to offer besides this computer screen. Until then, I am totally going to cheat with Google Sightseeing!

I still remember the day I realized putting quotation marks around my search terms would produce better results. It was my sophomore year of college (sadly) and I was writing a 200-page journalism project and combing through thousands of Congressional bills. Let's just say, those quotes saved me a lot of research time.

We all love instant messaging. It's cheap, it's fast, and it's great for people on the go. The creators of Blackberry Research In Motion (RIM) have released a free Google Talk application for the BlackBerry.
