SKIN
• Lady Gaga's new arm tattoo says (in German, natch), "In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?"
MAKEUP
• Angelia Jolie wore very little makeup to the screening of Inglourious Basterds in Los Angeles last night.

Disaster in the making
By Thomas Sowell
After many a disappointment with someone, and especially after a disaster, we may be able to look back at numerous clues that should have warned us that the person we trusted did not deserve our trust.
When that person is the President of the United States, the potential for disaster is virtually unlimited.
Many people are rightly worried about what this administration's reckless spending will do to the economy in our time and to our children and grandchildren, to whom a staggering national debt will be passed on.

France's rendezvous with history
De Gaulle sought to diminish US and British influence on foreign policy
Earlier this week, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said his country would end four decades of self-imposed isolation and return to Nato's military command.
Here, the BBC's Allan Little reflects on France's long journey to reconcile itself with one of the darkest chapters in its history and its difficult relationship with the US and the UK.
There is a story about a conversation between General de Gaulle, who, as president of the French Republic, telephoned his American counterpart Lyndon B Johnson, to inform him that France had decided to withdraw from the North Atlantic Treaty alliance.

Burnaby, British Columbia native and one of the quietest Superstars in the NHL, Joe Sakic reached a milestone on March 22nd. However, if you asked Joe about that achievement, he'd probably shrug it off and continue on as if it were just another day on the ice. Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers was crazy and one in which a combined seven goals were scored in the third period, with Edmonton taking the game with a 7-5 win.

Bella posted a link to some blog that posted a link to Cosmetics Fairy, a British cosmetics site.
Unable to resist, I purchased the W7 Paintbox 77 Shades Eyeshadow Set, which contains 77 shades of eyeshadow for £6.99, which is about $14.
Shipping to the US from the UK was kind of pricey but the whole order came out to about $26 USD.

This is one of my favourite Christmas songs. It is probably the one song you are guaranteed to hear on every Irish radio station and in every Irish pub at this time of year!
"Fairytale of New York" was released as a single in 1987 and reached #1 in the Irish charts and #2 in the British charts, over Christmas (the time of peak sales).
