I know most of you still use home printers, so listen up - recycling those empty printer cartridges has just gotten a whole lot easier thanks to HP and Walgreens! Last week I purchased a new HP cartridge and included in the box was a little envelope (postage paid) for me to mail away my old cartridge for recycling. And then after a quick trip to Walgreens, I noticed on my bag that Walgreens has a printer cartridge recycling program where you just take your empty cartridge to the photo counter for recycling - how great is that?! Print Photos at Walgreens Straight From Picasa!

Colossal MP3 Player Spotted at Walgreens!

Need a GIANT MP3 player? Spotted in the aisles of Walgreens, a $22 dollar MP3 player - the size of your head! Walgreens and their genius digital music player manufacturer have apparently glossed over the fact that iPod's success came largely from its convenient small size to bring you the Colossal 256MB mp3 player! Who cares if you don't own any bags big enough to fit it. It's COLOSSAL!

Who knows what they were thinking with this thing - it has just 256MB and requires 2 AA batteries, and the packaging gives away no sense of irony whatsoever.

Don't bother checking online for this bad boy - I could only find it in person at a downtown San Francisco store. I have half a mind to go back to that Walgreens and buy it, just so I can wear it around town as a social experiment. And it's pink, because, you know, a white one just isn't attention-catching enough!

How-To: Create Slideshows and Movies For Your Reception

If you haven't noticed, it's wedding season here on the Sugar Network and I've been busy telling you how to keep up with your own wedding website, pick out the perfect photographer, and manage all those photos - yours and your guests - after the big day. This week, we're moving into the wedding planning stages, and today I'm talking about slideshows. But this isn't the after-the-event, it-was-such-a-beautiful-day slideshow, this is the slideshow you play during your reception, usually packed with photos of you and your betrothed throughout your relationship together.

Although I've already given you some tips on what you should consider when putting together your slideshows, you may not know where to begin once you have all your photos chosen. If you don't have a Mac (I know I've talked your ear off about the simple joy of iPhoto), you can still make professional-looking slideshows and videos with your PC. Who woulda thought, right?

Find out what software you should consider, and what to do with those stacks of (nondigital) photos when you read more.

If not all of your photos are digital, it's OK - you can scan your photos, get them onto a CD and ready for uploading just by toting them down to your local Walgreens (or similar drug store that offers photo developing). And you're on your way to getting all your treasured pics into a slideshow.

Once you have all your photos uploaded to your computer, all you have to do is choose your software to start putting it all together. With any of these programs, you can arrange your pics, choose your (optional) background music that will play during your slideshow, and will even let you add in video clips if you want to switch things up. My first love is iPhoto, mostly for its ease of use and ability to export to not only a DVD but to your website, mobile phone, and iTunes to enjoy later.

But for you PC users out there, software like DVD Picture Show, My Memories Suite, and MediaShow 4 will get you the same great results, accommodates photos and video clips, and will export online or to a CD/DVD.

Developing Photos With Vitamin C and Coffee: It Can Be Done

While coffee and oranges sound like my ideal breakfast, this eye-opening combo apparently has another, technical use - developing film!

The geeks at Photojojo have created a tutorial for those times when you can't get to the nearest Walgreens and must develop some film, but happen to have some coffee and Vitamin C on hand.

Basically, you make a developer with instant coffee and Vitamin C powder, create a faux-dark room, and you're off. I've never developed film myself, but with my recent interest in vintagey, plastic lomo cameras, I might have a geek project on my hands.

While walking home from work the other night, I noticed an unexpected sign in the window of my favorite Walgreens, reminding the customers that yes, they still develop rolls of film. I can't recall the last time I had a roll of film developed, but someone must be asking Walgreens staffers about it if they felt the need to put up a notice. Of course, maybe it has something to do with the fact that most of us have gone digital and customers are occasionally bringing in disks, but not rolls. When was the last time you had a roll of film developed?
