For a Sunday dose of vintage geek, I thought I'd share these pastel vintage-chic radios which I spotted on GeekAlerts. Unlike other radios which appear retro on the outside but are mp3 players on the inside, this radio is totally old school. With an AM/FM radio, top handle, a telescopic antenna and knobs for adjusting the volume and frequency, it doesn't get any more vintage geek-chic than this. The pink is currently sold out so you'll have to settle for sky blue. Priced at $15 each.

Happy Halloween! There's nothing like a good ghost story to get you in the mood for All Hallows' Eve, which is why you should have Vintage Horror Sounds' YouTube channel on heavy rotation today. This station lets you listen to Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Ghost Stories For Young People along with other short-but-creepy tales and haunted-house sounds for after-dark fun. Who needs "Thriller" when you can add an old-timey radio twist to your festivities instead?

Jennifer Lopez Lets Loose in Sin City Following a Sexy Performance

Jennifer Lopez took to the stage in Las Vegas Saturday night at the iHeartRadio music festival. She performed a medley of vintage hits along with new tracks like "Papi" and "On the Floor." Following the show Jen and her backup dancers moved the party to Pure nightclub where the entourage partied until 3:30 a.m. Things got wild in the VIP area of the club when one of J Lo's dancers stripped off his shirt and gave the singer a lap dance - which she reportedly loved. Jen's trip to Sin City reunited her with her fellow American Idol judges and host Ryan Seacrest, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson. Jen and the judges are in the midst of finding new talent for the show's eleventh season, airing in early 2012, in addition Jennifer's also currently filming Parker in Palm Beach, FL, alongside her sexy costar Jason Statham.

Baseball games have been a constant at our house this year, from attending home Giants games to watching them on TV and listening to them on the radio. If your household has a similar preoccupation, celebrate your love for the game by adding some vintage baseball poster art to your walls.

My current favorite is the darling Saturday Evening Post cover (middle row, middle poster) from Aug. 10, 1940. Painted by Douglass. Contact the Julia Santen Gallery for pricing information.

Head to eBay to pick up this Signed Newark Eagles vs. NY Cubans Poster ($274). This replica game-day poster has been signed by 51 players. The poster itself was produced on cardboard as an advertisement and comes with a detailed letter of authenticity.

For something a little more whimsical, you can pick up Rabid Charlie Racater of the Detroit Wolverines ($13, top right). According to the artist, "During his day, Charlie Racater was one of the more popular players in the National League, despite his unfortunate nickname. He played second base for the Wolverines from 1883-89."

We interviewed two flea market fanatics - a longtime seller and a devoted buyer - to get the scoop on how to get the best price on the octopus-shaped pendant or shabby chic credenza you've got your eye on.

You like wearing other people's used clothing. You're not afraid of bedbugs. You love shopping at flea markets.

Somewhere along the line, someone decided that the word "vintage" was a synonym for "cool," which is why we have legions of women dressing like grandmothers and decorating with needlepoint pillows.But regardless of how many old-timey pieces you want to pick up when you're cruising the flea market circuit, your ultimate goal is to get a good deal. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's worth a million dollars, right? So, how can you be sure that you're going to walk away with the best deal upon leaving your favorite flea market?

Consider the following:

Bargain by . . . Knowing Where You Are
Flea markets are like snowflakes: No two are alike. "Think about the market's overall vibe: Is it aiming to be some D-list joint, shilling sunglasses, socks and cheap clock radios, or does it feature things you'd find on Etsy?" says Ashlea Halpern, a New York City-based freelance editor. "I could spend hours wandering the latter, but if I've stumbled across the former, I eat some funnel cake and get out."

Bargain by . . . Shopping Around
Your mama told you right. When it comes to flea markets, you better shop around. Remember that just because something is "vintage" doesn't necessarily mean it's one-of-a-kind. "Always walk once all the way through the market before making any purchases," Halpern advises. "I was so annoyed at one market last year when I dropped $18 on what I thought was a rad copper octopus pendant, only to discover an even radder copper octopus pendant for $15 two booths over." Unless you've fallen completely and totally in love with an item right on the spot (if so, get a grip), it may be better to assess what's on offer at other booths before making a deal.

Sure, the new 2012 VW Beetle is trying to drop its feminine persona with new "manly" features, but the truth of the matter is, I'd still drive it. Of course, I'm already a VW fan - I've owned two VW GTIs in my lifetime - and now that the new VW Beetle is stocked with some new tech and comes with an all new style, I'm even more excited to take one for a test drive. There's no price listed on the latest bug just yet, but here are a few reasons why I, and other ladies, should still consider driving this so-called "masculine" car.

Its retro look - While the sporty style of the new Beetle takes a big departure from the original models (and looks very similar to the 1965 Porsche design), it still keeps its vintage feel. The slim lines and cool colors are totally mod chic, which can be very appealing to members of both sexes.
Its modern amenities - The new Beetle has ditched the flower vase (who used that thing, anyway?), and instead comes stocked with Bluetooth, satellite, keyless entry, a touchscreen radio and navigation systems, and ambient lighting to set the mood. What woman doesn't want mood lighting?
The massive sunroof - Other than the tech options, the thing that appeals to me the most is the panoramic tilting and sliding sunroof. Boasting 90 percent more light and viewing area, the sunroof also reflects 99 percent of UV radiation. It's like getting the benefits of a convertible without all the hassle of the soft top!
Clean fuel efficiency - The new Beetle comes in two engine options, one of which is the TDI Clean , which is said to get up to 44-mpg highway miles. With gas prices these days, you really can't beat that unless you switch to an electric hybrid. Spending less money on gas? That's something both men and women can appreciate.

10 Ways to Know If You're an "American Rustic"

The New York Times recently ran an article and slideshow called "American Rustic," describing several different East Coast households that identified with this style. And while I will admit to appreciating and identifying with a few elements inherent in American rustic styling, some of it is a bit over the top (collections of antique dog identification tags, anyone?). So, is your household American rustic? If you answer yes to more than six out of these 10 elements identified in the article, then I'd venture to guess that you, too, have a bit of American rusticity in your home, too. You may be an American rustic if you . . .

Decorate with antique technology, such as airplane propellers, tube radios, or typewriters (then again, you may just be a steampunk)
Leave piles of woolen camp blankets around your home
Accessorize your worn leather club chair with a tattered patchwork quilt
Tear out weathered barn wood and turn it into wall paneling
Use stacks of antique suitcases for side tables
