Website of the Day: Eyejot

Do you ever start writing a long email to realize that you'd rather talk to the person over the phone? Well eyejot is a cool new site that may help you if you want to send someone a personal message but you don't have the time to chat for hours over the phone. Eyejot combines features from email and live video chat by creating an easy to use platform where people can send video messages (from your webcam or iSight) to friends and family in seconds. The best part about this "videomail" application is the fact that you don't have to install any software. To learn how to post your favorite sites to the Website of the Day group, just

I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

First of all, join the Website of the Day group
Click "Create and Share!" on the left hand side
Choose "Blog"
Give your photo a Title
Leave the category as "general"
Change the channel to "technology and gadgets"
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Website of the Day")
Click on the "Add Image" link below the "body" box
A popup window will happen - click on "Browse" to find your image on your computer
Once you have the image chosen, click "Submit"
The popup will show you your image, choose size: "normal" - if you want, you can give it a title (which will show up as a caption)
Click "Insert" and the popup will go away
Your "body" box will now have some text in it. Leave it as is. If you want to add some text before the picture telling me why you love the website, do it before the code that has appeared.
Click Submit

So join the Website of the Day group and share information about all of your favorite sites! Yours just might end up on the geeksugar homepage!

It's Mother's Day weekend and the talk show hosts are pulling out all the stops to remind us (and hopefully our husbands) just how amazing we moms are. Over on Anderson, the host and his own mother Gloria Vanderbilt surprised Jessica Alba and her mom with a sweet video message from the actress and healthy living advocate's husband and kids, Honor, 3, and Haven, 8 months, whom she hadn't seen in five days.

During the conversation about Jessica's new eco-friendly baby care line, The Honest Company, she told Anderson that she always wanted to be a mom, saying, "I always knew I was going to be a mom, and then when I found out I was pregnant and I was going to be a mom I had this awakening that I wanted to protect my child from everything that I possibly could." How about you?

I am so embarrassed to talk about this with my friends, so I am posting it here, especially cause all my friends know and love my BF and I don't want their opinion of him to change.

Anyways, I am 26 and have been in a relationship with a wonderful man for a year. He is kind, caring, and makes me laugh 'till my stomach hurts. We are very much in love, and he still gives me butterflies! I love his family, and I am actually hoping to marry him.

Here's the issue: I knew that he was always into girls and stuff (duh) but that he looks at porn and such. I do, I know all guys do. But now I'm discovering the extent of the porn he is looking at, and the way he talks to girls and stuff that has me a little concerned. I went through his Facebook when we started dating (I know, my fault; I'm terrible) and saw that he was chatting up girls and asking for pics of their boobs and stuff. (Some he knew, some he didn't.) I confronted him, he apologized and doesn't do it anymore. (I trust him; I know he's not doing it - I check up on him.)

But before we were dating there are tons of messages to girls asking to see their boobs and such - and that makes me think he's a scumbag. I have plenty of male friends who don't talk to me that way, and that's the way he was talking to his "friends," some girls that he even hangs out with currently (like his sister's friends, etc.), so it makes me uncomfortable. So yeah, I guess he still needs to get his fix on, so I noticed that he created a Twitter and is following around 200 women on there who post naked pics and such. He also goes on Tumblr from his home computer and looks up naked pics, stripping videos, etc.

We have a very active sex life - and I am very much into sex - I wear the lingerie, heels, etc. I don't care that he looks at porn, but I feel that he is a little excessive. He sits around on his phone on Twitter looking at those sites, and then sits on his home computer and looks at them. I dunno, it just makes me feel inferior.

Another example is that we got into a little tiff cause he loves tan lines on women, he tells me all the time, and he has recently Tweeted about how much he loves tan lines. He thinks I should get some, but I had a basal cell removed, so I am content with staying pasty white and never having a tan again, so I do not have to go through surgery again (I also believe tan lines are insanely trashy) and I feel that he wants me to have them. Also, if we are out he kind of ogles girls in passing, and it just irks me because (I hate to be vain), but I'm very attractive (I've had plenty of guys tell me I'm a 10 and my girlfriends say that I'm a 10 and he's more like a 5). It's not the looks I care about, but if I am so "attractive" then why does he have to constantly look at pics of other girls ALL THE TIME?

Will he ever grow out of this? I haven't said anything to him for fear of just looking like an insecure asshole, but part of me wants to say, "WTF?! Slow down!" Like I said, it's OK if it's every once in a while, but when I use his computer it's ALL over the place. I don't know. I just needed to vent. Does anyone understand where I'm coming from?

Rotary Phones - the Latest in Photo Booth Technology

In the days of cell phones and video chat, there's not much of a reason to keep a rotary telephone around other than its vintage good looks. A new project called the Rotobooth is repurposing those antique devices of yore in a way that is so 2012: a text message-sending photo booth.

Rotobooth users dial their mobile numbers the old-school way with long winds around the rotary phone located below the camera lens. Creators of Rotobooth hacked the phone with an Arduino microcontroller, so that once a photo is taken, it's sent to Flickr, and the user then receives a text message link to that photo on whatever number was dialed on the rotary phone.

This retro take on a modern digital photo booth was actually part of a hacking session at Twilio, a cloud-based texting company, and was used to send text message photo links to those smiling for the Rotobooth camera. Go, hackers!

Glee-ful Highlights From Episode "Dance With Somebody"

This week's Glee kicks off with a goose-bump-inducing rendition of Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know" by Rachel, Mercedes, Santana, and Kurt, and it's just the beginning of an episode full of some of my favorite performances of this season. The kids are still grieving Houston's death, and Emma points out that it's partially due to the fact that they're having a rough time dealing with the impending transition of graduation. Schue suggests a Whitney-themed assignment, and we all benefit, getting some sentimental but hugely entertaining numbers.

A couple of relationships are tested, but I'm most pleasantly surprised by the blossoming of a new romance that seems to come out of nowhere. Let's talk about those moments and more after the jump.

You may not think that your iPad was made for instant messaging, but I beg to differ. Check out IMO. This free app allows you to instant message using your GTalk, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Jabber, MSN, and Yahoo accounts (among others) in a clean and pleasing interface.

You can even send and receive voice memos, video, and photo files, and chat in a group setting. You don't even have to sign up for an IMO account to start using it; just sign in with your preferred IM chat provider and you're good to go.

31 Days of Spring Cleaning: Manage Your Disk Space

We've talked a lot about backing up your data and photos this month, but have you ever thought about how much space you're using, and for what? If you have your computer stocked full of movies, MP3s, files, and applications and hardly ever trash anything, then it's no wonder you get that strange error message that pops up saying that your "disk space is almost full." I'm sure (like me) you've bypassed that little note saying to yourself "yeah, right" or freaked out and had the geek squad on the phone before you could say microchip.

In either case, it's a good idea to get a handle on what you are storing on your hard drive (or hard disk as it's so lovingly called) so those nasty messages don't keep popping up and ruining your fun. I'm a visual gal, which is why I use Disk Inventory X to see what is on my hard drive. It's mapped out so that I understand what a big chunk of space that burned copy of BSG: Razor or my entire ELO collection is really taking up.
