Yesterday at CES Sony announced a wide variety of new products ranging from home theater to mini HD cameras. Also during their press conference, Sony announced that they will be releasing a library of music and concert footage in 3D, starting with Jimi Hendrix. Another newsmaker on the music front -Taylor Swift was named Sony's new "Brand Ambassador." Tired yet? Check out a few headline-making products that were unveiled at Sony's CES press conference, and trust me - this is just the tip of the iceberg.

TVs, PS3s, and Vaios in Yankee Stadium: Awesome or Weird?

One of my favorite activities in the Summer is heading-out to catch a baseball game! Although I may not know the ins and outs of the game, I go for the fun of it (and for a hot dog or two). But now, fans have even more reasons to head to the ball park this season: Sony recently announced that they have sealed a deal with the Yankees to pimp out their stadium with over 550 Bravia flat panel TVs, along with tons of Playstation 3s and Vaio computers to play with in select locations around the stadium.

I totally get the purpose of the TVs - cause I've often wished there was a way to watch the game while in line at the snack bar - but PS3s and Vaios? I'm not sure I understand the relevance of these at a sports stadium. MLB Playoffs before the game perhaps?

John Mayer Bats For Both Teams: Apple and Sony

MacBook Air? What MacBook Air? John Mayer must have cured his Apple addiction because he's now the poster-boy for Sony - appearing in a Sony Vaio ad in the latest issue of Wired. Maybe I'm just blind to the fact that he's got a ton of tech-company connections, including RIM with all of his BlackBerry hook-ups. But all in all, I guess everyone wins in this situation - Apple gets free publicity for their hot new gadgets, Sony pays Mayer oodles of cash to splash his face all over their ads, and Mayer gets all the latest tech toys he can handle.

Waterproof Laptop: Necessity or Novelty?

I've certainly had my fair share of spills and accidents on my laptop and computer keyboard. Thankfully companies like Sony Japan are realizing that a simple coffee and tea break can turn into a disaster if your laptop were to get spilled on. Featured on Gearfuse, this VAIO type G notebook uses a built-in drainage system to protect your laptop from liquid. In the event of a spill, it will automatically turn off-although I'm curious to know whether this will prevent electrical shortages and corrosion. The LCD screen is also said to withstand scratches, making this laptop quite the durable little gadget. The G notebooks are set to go on sale October 6th in Japan with a price tag of $1500 and upwards, depending on personal customization. Sony Thinks Pink In The Name of Cancer Prevention

There's a rift between pink gadget lovers and haters. Most of us hate when manufacturers use rosy hues in a lame, 18th Century attempt at attracting attention from females, but then again, some pink gadgets are just plain cute.

Pink also happens to be the color of Breast Cancer Awareness and as the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches, retailers across the country, including Sony VAIO, are joining the fight to find a cure for breast cancer by creating special editions of some of their bestselling products.

This October, Sony VAIO will donate $100,000 from the proceeds of a limited time Sony VAIO pink bundle that includes a VAIO Pink CR Series notebook accompanied by a pink mouse and pink carrying case. The laptop is $1,250 and is available on SonyStyle.com and Sony Style stores. It also happens to be the same computer Daniel Craig used as James Bond in Casino Royale. Of course, his was a little more camouflaged.

Sony Spices Up C Series Laptops With Two New Lid Colors

It's a new year, new look for Sony's laptop lineup. The company announced two new lid colors coming to its affordable and portable Vaio C Series: Kaleidoscope Pink and Modern Geometric.

Both colors are customizable for the 15.5-inch model, while the bright pink will be an option for customizing the 14-inch screen size as well. If you're not familiar, the Vaio C starts at just $759 with customizable specs, including Intel processors, RAM, updated graphics cards, and hard drive sizes up to 750GB. You can even add a Blu-ray player/burner for an extra $150 if you want to watch your discs on the go. The standard battery lasts up to seven hours, but you can upgrade to a larger lithium ion battery for a whole 10 hours of juice.

Sony Debuts Pink Laptop Bundles For Breast Cancer Research

Breast Cancer Awareness month is almost here, and with that, there's always pretty-in-pink gadgets to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. We debuted the Pink Ribbon DS Lite this morning, and now Sony is getting in on the action for the second year in a row with pink laptop bundles. The Sony VAIO CR pack includes a 14.1-inch LCD screen, a Core 2 Duo CPU, a built-in DVD burner, and a matching case and mouse, while the VAIO SR comes with a 13.3-inch LED backlit display and up to 320GB of HDD space. Bundle prices start at $870 and $1,399. They haven't shown up on Sony's website yet, but I'm sure they'll be available for purchase starting on the first of the month.

Back-to-School Gaming Deals: Free Xbox With Laptop Purchase

Good news gaming fans: major tech players Sony and Microsoft are tempting you to buy their products this Fall by throwing gaming units in with the purchase of qualifying computers.

Geek Out: Let's Find Pink Gadgets For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As you probably already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is the time of year companies typically release limited edition pink devices as a way of showing support and giving back to breast cancer research.

I've shared the special edition pink shuffle from Target as well as the pink Sony Vaio (seen at right) with you, but I figure there are plenty of other limited edition gadgets and gizmos out there that I haven't seen yet.
