The Ever So Teeny Nokia Icon Wrist Band

Although these streamlined and ultra chic duochromatic OLED wrist bands weren't featured in our Cell Phones So Hot You Can't Get One...Yet story, they are certainly worth mentioning. Designed by Lopez Revol and courtesy of Yanko Designs the Nokia Icon shows incoming call and text messages on its flexible rubber band which just so happens to come in a variety of sizes and colors. Nokia also has a line of glowing bands which change red or white when you receive a message or call. Stumped as to how this gadget works? It connects to the 7280 phone via Bluetooth. I'd say this is something that Lauren Conrad from The Hills would find useful- time to put that BlackBerry in a case girl!

Take a step into the future of technology and feast your eyes on some of the most unique concept phones of 2007. Although most of these models will never be manufactured, we are able to get a sneak peek into the future of cell phone design. From left to right I've included the Radia cell phone which was inspired by glass coasters, Timo Wong's "fruit tray" cell phone, the domino-themed phone, the appropriately named Seesaw phone, the Yoyo phone, the SaY rubber phone, Tarati's touchless cell phone, Yun Liang’s scroll cell phone and Samsung's SLIQ cell phone. Keep in mind that because they are concept phones, they are not in production which means you cannot purchase them at this time-Sorry! Cast your vote below on which one was your favorite! First of all, join the Cell Phone Bling Group
Click "Create and Share!" on the left hand side
Choose "Blog"
Give your photo a Title
Leave the category as "general"
Change the channel to "technology and gadgets"
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Cell Phone Bling")
Click on the "Add Image" link below the "body" box
A popup window will happen - click on "Browse" to find your image on your computer
Once you have the image chosen, click "Submit"
The popup will show you your image, choose size: "normal" - if you want, you can give it a title (which will show up as a caption)
Click "Insert" and the popup will go away
Your "body" box will now have some text in it. Leave it as is. If you want to add some text before the picture, do it before the code that has appeared.
Click Submit

Spore Origins Hits the iPhone and iPod Touch

Although Steve announced its release yesterday at the Let's Rock presentation, I got a chance to play with the newest game to hit the App Store at the Spore Release party last week. Spore Origins officially launched for the iPod Touch and iPhone on Monday and comes in at a cool $10 for your gaming pleasure.

Although the full version of Spore on your Mac or PC will take you all the way through Cell to Space stages, Spore Origins is condensed down into 30 levels in the Cell stage only (which was one of my faves anyway). You still get your chance to create, mold, and evolve as a creature, and of course you still get to hunt your food and (even sometimes be hunted) in your pool of muck. The iPhone and iPod Touch's accelerometer acts as your steering device, so you're getting the full experience of Spore on the go, but the extra added benefit of twisting and turning your iPhone or iPod to get where you need to go in the game. Protect Your iPhone With Elan Snap-In From Griffin

The release of a new device like the Apple iPhone means a whole new market of cases, protectors, sleeves and of course cell phone bling. Because of the iPhone's touch screen, the cases for the device have a unique challenge - protect the screen, but allow the user easy access to the device's functions. While there will inevitably be a small army of cases released in the near future, I have picked through the "first season" in an attempt to find the best case for my own iPhone. One of my favorites, is this Elan Snap-In from Griffin.

It's $24.99, a very small price to pay after springing for the $499+ iPhone, and protects the phone while allowing you to make calls, use the browser or listen to music. I'm pretty opposed to keeping my cell phone on my belt (really, who besides Courteney Cox or your office copy guy does that?), but the case also includes a small clip that swivels 180-degrees on your belt or bag strap.

For months, geeks have worried about whether scratching the iPhone's screen is unavoidable, to which I say, "yes, it is." The great thing about this cover is that you can use it as a clip/cover while the iPhone is in use and then you can flip the phone around so that the touchscreen faces inward and is protected by the lining of the case. Also, it covers the iPhone’s ambient light sensor, causing the display to darken and saving valuable battery power. If you are organized (i.e capable of turning your phone around in the case when it's not in use) and seeking a light, but sturdy leather case, this one is for you.

Have You Ever Taken An Artistic Picture With Your Cell Phone?

Last week I learned about Patrice Elmi, a visual artist who gave up her 35 mm camera last year and has been using her cell phone camera to capture "colorful abstracts of urban settings. According to the Associated Press, even LG Electronics, who is the maker of the phone Elmi uses, didn't believe her photos originated from its LG-8100 phone when she asked the company to sponsor a recent gallery exhibit of her camera-phone art.

According to her website, Elmi uses only "pure, glowing color from either early morning or late afternoon sunlight to create her images that marry art and photography into a unique and vibrant form." Her work is being displayed at an exhibit, "Views From a Cell" in Los Angeles. As someone who has given up on taking quality photos with my cell phone (seriously, they are never good enough to e-mail to friends, let alone share with strangers!) I can't imagine ever capturing a gallery-worthy cell phone picture, but maybe I am just inexperienced.
