Oh man, if you missed The Colbert Report the other night, I've got to fill you in on the details about this hilarious segment. Stephen started talking about Milton Pedraza, the CEO of the "Luxury Institute," who recommends a strategy of "stealth wealth" and "avoiding conspicuous consumption for a less flashy image" during this economic crisis. Stephen then goes on to say that he took Milton's advice of forgetting $10,000 mobile phones and picking up iPhones instead, so he decided to trade in his $310,000 Vertu cell phone for an iPhone and a land line (keep your eyes peeled for his blinged-out rotary phone!). Ha ha Stephen, you woo us again with your antics.

Oh Stephen, you never cease to amaze me with your geeky toys and Dance Dance Revolution Dance-Off competitions. I'm not surprised you've already scooped up a new black iPhone 3G, but you never told me you were such a Sex and the City fan?! I'm actually impressed you've pimped out your phone with such a signature ringtone. . . . the ladies will love it and the men will wish they had an ounce of your coolness. Keep up the good work.

TIME magazine recently released its list of the top 100 most influential people and needless to say, comedian Stephen Colbert wasn't very happy with the results. With first place going to video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (Wii creator) and second place going to Korean pop star Rain, Colbert's heart sank when he saw his third place ranking. And what's a man to do when he feels like he's been robbed of a prestigious title? Take it to the dance floor, for a little Dance Dance Revolution competition! Colbert finally got Rain to show, and well. . . here's what happened!

Steven Colbert Promotes 'Google Bombing'

In yet another self-promotion quest, Comedy Central's faux newsman Steven Colbert launched a 'Google Bombing' campaign last week in an effort to make ColbertNation.com the top search result on Google for "greatest living American."

He was successful. He did however, have the help of some strategists, who after visiting his show gave a few pointers. Here's more:

We got a chance to see a taping of The Colbert Report hosted by Stephen Colbert, a true american hero. During the Q&A period before the show, Stephen said he would like to rank first on Google for Giant Brass Balls. Well-that just seemed way too easy, so we decided to do some keyword research and find other words that the show could rank for…

A quick check on Google shows he doesn’t even rank for Truthiness, a word he invented. So, Colbert Nation, we are not -ahem- suggesting a Google Bombing campaign… but isn’t it time to start linking to the Greatest Living American?

In case you haven't considered Google bombing before, it's not like sake bombing, but the next day results are much better. CNet explains: It's a method of directing mass links that contain a particular line of text to a certain site, which then bolsters that site's ranking on Google when that line of text is used as a search query. Oh the fun geeks have.

The Hills Is Making Its Way to Sling.com

I'm a big advocate of the video site Hulu, which streams movies and TV shows for free (they are commercial-supported). But there's still a huge list of shows, like The Hills, that aren't available on Hulu. The website Sling - brought to you by the masterminds of the SlingPlayer - is adding Viacom Shows (like The Hills) to its full streaming lineup. Viacom shows that were exclusively on Hulu like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report will also be available on Sling too. I know I know, The Hills is available online via MTV, but the Sling video player is so much prettier.

YouTube Ordered to Shell Out Viewer Info

If you've ever checked out YouTube clips from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report (among many others), your information may soon be released to Viacom - they've been granted access to private user data to find out how many people are watching!

Part of a copyright infringement lawsuit, Google was ordered to release the deets about how many times copyrighted clips are played, and who's watching to determine if damages are owed to Viacom.

Viacom claims that Google knew about the infringements and could do more to stop it. Although the Goog was opposed to handing over the 12 terabytes of data (that's a lot), saying that info should be kept private, Viacom assures us that they will proceed with caution. Here's more:

Any data provided will be used exclusively for the purpose of proving our case against YouTube and Google (and) will be handled subject to a court protective order and in a highly confidential manner.

Thoughts of anonymity and identity theft come to my paranoid mind when companies are forced to hand over user information, but does this case make you think twice before using YouTube if your info and viewing history (no matter how delicately handled) are available for others to see? Zune Adds New TV Titles to Its Video Store

The recently opened Zune Marketplace store is set to add more than 400 new episodes of popular television shows to its online line-up - with 19 popular titles coming this week. Shows like The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Lipstick Jungle (woot!), are all set to make their Zune Marketplace debut.

Each show is said to be 160 Microsoft Points per episode (approximately $1.99).
