I'm addicted to skipping through commercials via TiVo, but when I do watch live television, my eardrums get a major blast whenever ads come on. At first I thought it was just me, then I noticed the lack of volume control while at a friend's house watching a Sex and the City marathon. What gives?

Last night the stars came out in full force to attend the Primetime Emmy Awards in LA. Neil Patrick Harris certainly did an incredible job hosting the show and keeping the crowd entertained — did you enjoy his little song and dance opener? As soon as the festivities kicked off, Patrick was singing about TiVos, the Internet, high-definition televisions, and telephones, and then came his funny skit halfway through the show about watching TV shows on the Internet vs.

Since most of you use Hulu and it's being rumored that the free streaming video site is soon going to launch a subscription service, I'm wondering if many of you would considering jumping ship and getting rid of your cable service? Not a ton of details have been revealed about the subscription service, but it will most likely offer content without ads, or more access to television shows and movies. According to TechCrunch, Clicker also pulls in Amazon Video on Demand and Netflix's Watch Instantly content (which you still have to pay for!).

Considering the fact I spend three quarters of my day online (it's pitiful, but true), I'm trying to adjust to the idea of watching TV programs via the net rather than my standard couch potato/laptop in lap method. With services like Joost and networks such as ABC offering streamed shows online, TV on the net is definitely becoming more mainstream and enjoyable for the viewer. The latest addition to this growing trend is a cool new service called WiTV - "Wireless Internet TV"- which works via your web browser and includes features like an integrated chat system that allows you to talk via IM and Skype with other viewers.

For those of you keeping score: I want a TV in the dining room, bathtub, but not the bedroom. Of course, the expense isn't the only thing standing in the way of my getting an additional TV; I have a tiny apartment and there is just nowhere for another TV. But rest assured, I would if I could — and that brings my television ownership total down to a whopping one set.

Networks like The CW and NBC are trying to tap into highly trafficked social networking sites like MySpace by offering video streams of popular TV shows. According Broadcasting & Cable, when The CW promoted America's Next Top Model on MySpace, their season-premiere ratings increased 36 percent among teens compared to its 2005 debut.
With over 61.5 unique visitors in January and even more in February, MySpace has become one of the best places for networks to showcase their goods.
