Use Dial My Calls to Send One Message to a Group of People

Ever wish you could send out a voice message to a group of people in your contacts list? Thanks to a neat site that I discovered on Lifehacker, this is now possible! With Dial My Calls, you can send one message to all your friends for things like sharing an announcement, telling them there's been a change of plans, or reminding them of an upcoming event. Kinda like sending a mass email, except this message comes with the sound of your beautiful voice.

Teens Not Sleeping Enough Because of Their Gadgets

This is definitely one of those studies that doesn't surprise me. An Australian study has shown that over 50 percent of third- and fourth-year high-school students aren't getting enough sleep because they are too busy playing games, watching TV, listening to their iPod, or chatting on the phone.

It was the males who were found glued to their video games, TVs, or media players, while the females couldn't get enough gab time in on their telephones. What's happening is the teens can't seem to pull themselves away from gadgets before bedtime, which is causing them to lose large amounts of sleep.

Dr. Kurt Lushington, a professor within the School of Psychology at the University of South Australia, who lead the study had this to say about it: "Sleep is very important for learning and memory, particularly in year 12 when pressure is on to perform. A lot of kids are reporting that they're tired when they wake up and there are quite a few reporting they're sleepy during the day."

It'd be interesting if they conducted a similar study for adults. I may not be chatting on my cell before bed, but I am trying to catch up on my TiVo taped shows!

If retro phones aren't enough for you, how about one that is completely decked out with an assortment of colorful objects? This Glitz n' Glam Phone is actually for sale on Etsy and probably weighs about fifty pounds with all the additional bling. Displayed on 7Gadgets, this $50 phone comes with flowers, fruit, a black poodle, Eiffel Tower, ballerina, frog, a pink miniature phone and a bunch of other random charms, which to me look like hard candy from my grandmother's house. Interesting indeed to say the least!

Totally Geeky or Geek Chic? Red Lips Telephone

Ooo la la. Feast your eyes on the luscious lips telephone. For those who couldn't care less about phones jam packed with special features, but love funky retro gadgets, this phone may appeal to you. When I spotted these hot lips on 7Gadgets, I immediately thought of a friend in high school who had a cool clam style phone like this, which back in the day seemed as exciting as the iPhone does now! Priced at around $35. What do you think? Does this phone deserve a "tres chic"?

Telephone Card Holder: Love It or Leave It?

Maybe all your corded phones are gone, but the telephone motif itself is hot (seriously, I was just saying this!).

Even this Telephone Memo Holder ($12), which doesn't do anything gadgety - it's just a wooden memo holder - is totally cute.

But what would you use it for now? Its ideal role is holding cards that have messages of who called on them, but that kind of task is obsolete for many of us. Maybe we just bring back the handwritten note "just 'cause"?

Love It or Leave It? Retro Red and Pink Telephones

I don't think my BlackBerry 'classic phone' ringtone can compete with these shiny and new retroesque red and pink telephones. So they might not have call display or touch tone dialing, but what they lack in features, they totally make up for in style. And hey, we should all jog our memory once in awhile when it comes to remembering telephone numbers! For all those old school divas this might just be the perfect telephone for you. Let me know, do you love them or are you going to leave this one alone?

Anyone else love the convenience of their cell phone but secretly think it's really romantic to have had to sit at a designated telephone chair and then talk to the local switchboard operator about whom you needed to phone?

OK, yeah, so I guess speed-dialing and visual voice mail is pretty great too. I really wouldn't give it up, but I will be laying my head on this old school Telephone Pillow ($29) from West Elm. And making "BRRRING BRRING" noises and asking Alice to connect me to Mrs. Ada Stevenson in Murray Hill.

Telephone Earrings: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Geek jewelry is a delicate thing; it's so easy to take it from cute and fun to dangerously silly.

I'm not totally sure that these Telephone Earrings ($10) fit into that category - they are pretty freakin' cute (and being landline style, getting into the realm of vintage geek), but would I wear them to meet my boyfriend's mother? Dilemma!
