Obviously, I'm all about apps. Apps that help me take better photos, look better, and even find a cab in New York (it's possible). So if I had an app that turned my phone into a virtual Looking Glass — that let me see anything from apartments for rent to how high a building is just by holding up my phone to the horizon — I'd be all over it.

It's only been four days since the announcement of the new iPhone 3G S, and I'm already getting my brain picked from friends and family if it's worth the price (unfortunately it's not as cheap as we originally thought). I'll tell them, "Well the iPhone offers this, but you may like this about the Pre, so it depends on your needs. Oh, and then there's the G1."

I was shocked to learn that the makers of the pixelated Stolen Jewels from a couple years ago, Mike and Maaike, were also the designers of the T-Mobile G1! After some investigation, I found that the SF-based design pair has designed even more geeky products — and you might be surprised what came from the modern "jewelers."

Let's take Gmail out of the spotlight for a minute and focus on some new Google features! Google has just released a software update for the T-Mobile G1, which will fix some bugs and offer a new service called Google Latitude. Google Latitude, the location-based friend software, can be used on your G1 and/or installed as a widget on your iGoogle page.

I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but it's true — Walmart will start selling the G1 today at a discounted price!
Unlike T-Mobile, who is already selling the phone for $180, you can get one at over 550 Walmart stores for $150 instead — how great is that? So let me get this straight, iPhone is to Best Buy as the G1 is to Walmart?
