After discovering the Brightfeet lighted slippers, I can't help but get excited every time I see a pair of slippers that light up. We've all been there... trying to make our way to the kitchen late at night, estimating our proximity to corners and stairs. Of course we always end up tripping on that useless rocking chair in the hall and spilling our glass of water following a terrible toe-studding incident. Would You Interview For a Job on Skype?

If you ask me, using Skype for dating is one thing, but using it for a job interview is something entirely different. But now, employers are turning to Skype as a cost-cutting interview tool. Instead of flying prospective candidates for in-person meetings, some companies are using the video-chatting software to narrow the list to a few finalists.

Even though I'd get to interview at home - in slippers and sweat pants if I wanted to, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable using Skype to meet a potential employer. I think you can learn more about a new job and work environment from inside the office, not from behind a computer screen. What do you think?

Totally Geeky or Geek Chic? USB Heated Slippers

There really is an enormous world of USB-powered objects, most of which are on the "would I really use this?" side of the geek-o-sphere. My most recent discovery, the USB Heated Slippers are marketed at those of us who spend half the day complaining that our feet are cold.

The previous model had a single slipper for both feet, but the newest edition features two separate slippers, which allows you to relax in a variety of positions. According to the makers, the slippers are safe because they warm your feet gradually and softly by USB power.
So, are they totally geeky, or geek chic?

Along with all the crazy costumes and comics at WonderCon, there were some fun and interesting products, too.

Take these Super Mario Mushroom slippers for example. Personally, Mario is pretty close to my heart and I still do a little geek gasp whenever I see characters from the classic Nintendo game etched on a tee, pillow or even edibles. However, I think that if I were to sport these slippers when lounging, even my boyfriend would get a good laugh. I mean, I'm geeky and proud but . . .

When it comes to USB gadgets there is no telling what tomorrow will bring. There are some functional items, some fun items and some things that make you go wooow! The Hello Kitty USB Foot Warmers seem to be a mixture of all of the above. But are they chic?

Much like the USB Cape/Blanket number we featured recently, the USB foot warmers just have to be plugged in to a USB port on your computer, PSP, etc. and they will generate heat from the port to your toesies.

Will You Follow Tonight's Election Results Online?

I have an election night ritual: I settle in from work into some cozy pants and slippers, get on the couch, and eat an easy dinner in front of the TV. This year, I will be in front of the TV, but I'll be dividing my time between it and my laptop to watch the election results come in.

Prior to this, I always waited patiently for my newscasters to update me with the latest info, but now with the Internet's reach, I can know the latest as soon as the talking heads do. Like I said, I plan on getting my election coverage from the tube as well as my computer, but are you planning on watching primarily from your TV or the Internet?
