I'm all for gadgets being waterproof. Maybe it has to do with the fact I get caught in the rain regularly without an umbrella, or because I enjoy water sports. If you like keeping your gadgets protected and don't necessarily care about showing them off, here's a shuffle case from USB fever that is all of the above. This watch style case, which I spotted on technabob, comes in a soft rubber, making it very comfortable and light weight. Available in blue, black, green, frost white, pink and purple for $10. Definitely a cute case, although I think I'd get annoyed with a dangling earphone cord attached to my wrist. It also reminds me of an intravenous tube! Too basic for your liking? Did you happen to see the gold and diamond iPod shuffle? Now that is what I call bling.

iPod Shuffle Charms Don't Require a User Manual

If these iPod Shuffle Charms serve no other purpose than for me to think they're adorable and think "squishy" in a baby voice, then they've totally succeeded.

At $4, you could get a few and attach them as charms to your cell phone or wherever, or just have them around, since the seller says they are meant for those who love kawaii, and kawaii they are indeed.

The Portable Cuby Speaker For Your Shuffle

It's not everyday I see a speaker dock made for a shuffle. So when I saw this new "Cuby" dock on Fareastgizmos I was instantly intrigued. It was made for second generation shuffles and connects via the headphone jack or to your computer via a USB cable. Each dock comes with speakers built-in on both sides and can play continuously for five hours with three AA batteries. And the sound quality is pretty good, considering the small size of the Cuby. I'd say it would make the perfect portable speaker when traveling or when on-the-go. Priced around $33 and will be available for purchase this July.

Womanhandling the New iPod Shuffle

Yesterday Apple announced its tiniest media player to date - the 4GB iPod Shuffle. Well today I cruised on over to the Apple store for some hands-on action with the new device and to test out these easy-access controls we've been hearing so much about - and the ones that most of you aren't very happy about. The actual headphone controls are pretty nifty and useful especially if you want to switch playlists, which you couldn't do with the second generation shuffle. But the whole idea of having to own multiple pairs in case one breaks kinda sucks.

The Apple guru's explained to me that there's numerous companies like Monster which will offer their own version of the headphones and thankfully they will range in price. The only other way you'd be able to listen to your shuffle (if your headphones break) is through external speakers or with a car adapter with the shuffle's autoplay. . . but you wouldn't be able to adjust the volume, or switch from playlist to playlist. I didn't get a confirmation on more colors and sizes to come, but that's basically a guarantee. So if you aren't digging the black or silver, I say wait a few months and you'll probably have a rainbow of colors to choose from. The new shuffle can now be purchased online and will be in stores within the next couple of days.

Geek Chic

I love that the case is colorful. It was released just before the new colorful shuffle was put on the market, but it clearly adds pizazz to any shuffle, including this pink one.
I like the engineered grooves that allow you to spool your earbud wires nice and tight. It's constantly a battle wondering what to do with iPod earbuds and they are always on the loose and getting wrapped up and dirty in my purse. When I tried out the Wraptor, they stayed neat and tidy.
For only $10 or $20 for a three pack, the Wraptor is on the inexpensive side of gadget cases, but it doesn't look cheap.
The fact that you can wrap your earbuds around the outside of the Wraptor means you can clip the shuffle on your jacket and keep the cord taught so it doesn't dangle around. This is ideal for working out, walking or any other activity because it means the cord won't be sliding around and getting in the way.

Totally Geeky

I needed another set of hands to help me jam the shuffle into the plastic case and because I was so worried about scratching it, the experience of getting it in was a bit traumatic.
Only a girl would say this - but I am a girl so here it goes - the plastic on the case is so hard I couldn't get it in without messing up my manicure.
I'd love it if there was a hook/cranny to lock the earbud to the case when it's in my bag.

Overall
It's definitely worth it for $10, and except for the fun shuffle foils I haven't seen a ton of great shuffle covers. Just don't try to put your shuffle in it right after a mani.

The iPod shuffle contains one gigabyte of flash memory, holds up to 240 songs and is available in all five colors for just $79 from Apple.

“iPod shuffle is the world’s most wearable digital music player,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. “Music fans can now choose iPod shuffle in one of five brilliant colors, or they can buy one of each.”

While I probably won't be buying one each, I am intrigued that the iPod shuffle features up to 12 hours of battery life and lets users shuffle their songs to listen to them in a random order or simply flip a switch to listen to their songs in order, such as when listening to a new album.
