New and Noteworthy Android Apps: PoGo and Cosmo

It seems there's a new app released daily that can help us either achieve a goal or kill some time. I suppose these two new apps could fall under either category. First up, the PoGo Android app. In case any of you are still using your PoGo printers (or are hankering for a new one), things are about to get a lot easier for you. The new 3x4 version PoGo ($156; out this holiday) will link up to the PoGo Android app, letting you snap pics right from your phone, edit, choose a frame, and send your pics to print on the eco-friendly zero ink paper. The size is definitely more old-school Polaroid-like, so your vintage senses will be well taken care of, while your geeky futuristic side can have all the fun.

Video Game-Based Lingerie Collection: Love It or Leave It?

Lingerie based on a video game? Really? Really. Although I'm all about dressing up like my favorite video game characters on Halloween, I'm not too sure I can get behind this lingerie collection based on the Wii title No More Heroes 2. Sure, the gals in the game are wearing such garments (it's rated M for a reason, folks), and it is almost Comic-Con time (not that you'd want to go outside in any of this), but who buys this stuff? Gamer girls who want to impress their equally geeky mate? Video game memorabilia collectors?

To each his own, I suppose. I'll keep my own opinions to myself for now, but if you want to get your hands on some of this faux leather and lace goodness, keep an eye out for its launch on Bedtime Flirt, a UK lingerie retailer. Until then, tell me - do you love this, or would you rather leave it?

Glowfur Bikini Top: 'Art Meets Tech?'

In this edition of "we all know sex sells but why are these products so darn creepy?" we will be looking at the Glowfur's line of glowing fur swim suits, short skits and faux-glowing fur jackets.

The company, which touts its "creative approach of matching just the right kind of faux fur with special internal lighting technology," has been the talk of geektown this week and while I know bright things can be mesmerizing, I ask you to not get sucked in. That is unless you are planning a time traveling trip to 1997 and hope to slip into a rave.

It seems the gear is lit with LEDs. A long sweater with detachable GlowFur collar costs $99 (which in most cases is actually less than a regular non-GlowFur item), a long coat is nearly $800 (honestly honey, order the Marc jacket instead!) and bikini top is $78.

As Charlie from Gizmodo points out, there are coats for guys too. If they are so inclined.

Pam From The Office Takes Off Her Clothes For Wired

The April cover of Wired Magazine will feature a package of stories about radical transparency, their notion that the next model of business success is laying your company bare to the world-sharing secrets with your rivals, blogging about ideas as you have them, and copping to fumbles and foibles as you make them. Even more transparent, I fear, is the magazine's cover, which features the fabulously funny and smart Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam on The Office. No there won't be any foil wrapping, but Fischer will appear clothed in the top cover and "naked" on a second cover underneath.

"If you're talking about transparency, the obvious metaphor is clear: you're naked," says Wired's Creative Director. "So of course, Wired being Wired we wanted a cover that was smart and showy. And as Creative Director I wanted something that hadn't been done before. We settled on the idea of printing on clear acetate. But it had to be interactive. Now you’re in a business suit-now you’re not."

While Fischer isn't actually naked, the raciness is a first for the magazine and has already started a wave of discussion across the web. The message to "Get Naked And... Rule The World" that I don't take lightly, and I am certainly not alone. "It's familiar boy's club crap," says Back In Skinny Jeans. "Yeah, just sex up the receptionist. Why didn't you throw in the pot of coffee while you were at it? Naked women on business magazines is just wrooooong, and that's why it's never been done before by anyone with class."

Will Cleavage Help Sell The iPhone?

Now that women are just as obsessed with the latest gadgets as their counterparts, is it really necessary to have Playboy model look-alikes drooling over products in ad campaigns?

With the iPhone's release quickly approaching, it will be interesting to see what marketing schemes are used to increase its visibility so to speak. We've already seen the official Apple iPhone commercial but will we be seeing any images like this one I created (yes, that's right people it's FAKE) in magazines such as Stuff and FHM? Thanks to the techie gals over at Shiny Shiny for bringing up the topic of the ins and outs of using sex to sell gadgets.

Upcoming Cannes Films Take New Looks at World's Oldest Profession

A young Japanese student who sells herself to pay for school gets hired by an elderly academic. A middle-aged Austrian woman travels to the beaches of Kenya looking for young African men to fall in love with, or at least sleep with. Two new films to be shown at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival will feature these very different scenarios starring the world's oldest profession. If you enjoy exploring human relationships through the lens of foreign films, here's why you might want to keep Paradise: Love and Like Someone in Love on your radar.

In Ulrich Seidl's Paradise: Love, Teresa is a 50 year-old Austrian mom with a teenage daughter. On her tropical African vacation to Kenya, Teresa goes from one "beach boy" to the next looking for a fulfilling fling, only to realize her encounters are merely business transactions. The filmmaker, Ulrich Seidl, researched for two years in Kenya, where some locals say one in five single female tourists from rich countries come looking for sex, and the movie stars actual working "beach boys" from the area. Paradise: Love promises to examine the business behind this unusual sex tourism and the influence of age, gender, and skin color on the market value of sexuality. Below is a slightly NSFW clip from the film.

Taking us from the beaches of Kenya to a home in Tokyo, Like Someone in Love gives viewers a more familiar premise. An elderly academic hires a young female student to have sex with him at his home. Few specific details are known about the film, by Iranian director and Cannes veteran Abbas Kiarostami, but the synopsis promises that the "web that is woven between them in the space of 24 hours bears no relation to the circumstances of their encounter." The trailer, with Ella Fitzgerald's voice appropriately singing "Like Somebody in Love" over the intriguing scenes, definitely draws you into what looks like a complex tale of relationships. What We Need to Talk About When We Talk About Sex and Feminism

We're happy to present this story from one of our favorite sites, The Good Men Project. Lisa Solod, who came of age during the sexual revolution, explores what feminism means to this generation.

My mother married my father because, she told me in a rare moment of candor, she wanted to have sex with him. She was 25 and tired of pre-sex fumbling and stolen kisses. My father was, of course, far more experienced, having been in the Pacific Theater during World War II; far less discreet about his former life (and life in general) he told his daughters inappropriate tales of the women he had met on shore leave. One I particularly remember had her front teeth filed into points. Well into their marriage, each of them managed to be unfaithful and they finally separated (but not because of infidelity) after twenty years of marriage. Yet, for another dozen years or so they would hook up here and there, travel together, and, of course have sex. In a further revelation, my mother told me that the sex was the best part of her relationship with my father.

I came of age at the tail end but the real beginning of the sexual revolution (1971-1974). At that point, sexual liberation was inextricably tied to the rise of feminism. Having sex like men, i.e., without attachment, was part of our freedom. But too many of us got hurt. We hadn’t yet factored in the biology of mating and how really hard it was to have that much sex without any real commitment. Most of the women I know who grew up during those years had far more sexual encounters than they were ever willing to reveal to their husbands. Those of us who divorced then dived back into the sexual market with the same abandon. I am not sure we were all the wiser. I hear STDs are on the rise in the over 50 group, which doesn’t surprise me. We all were pretty practiced in birth control but we took it into our own hands, with the pill and the diaphragm. This was pre-AIDS. Barrier methods were not our methods of choice then. They are not, apparently, our method now, either.

Should a Man Stand Up For His Woman?

But those of us who grew up in the trenches of the sexual revolution know that feminism was about far more than women having the kind of meaningless sex with men that men had been having with us for eons. Feminism, which is still being parsed in the media as well as our own homes, still being debated and discussed and accepted and dismissed, was about being able to control (to the extent that anyone can) our work lives, our love lives, our lives as a whole. It was about being able to have a career, being paid equally well for that career, and making our own decisions about marriage and childbirth without having to merely capitulate to what society had set out for us. I, for one, was happy not to have to marry to have sex. I was thrilled to be able to go to college and think about a career without worrying that it might make me unmarriageable. I was ecstatic about the notion that I could make decisions for myself.

All those ideas I passed along to my daughter. But, of course, she had no need to wrestle with those notions as the women in my generation had. She lived in a society where (she thought) feminism was taken for granted. Women her age did not talk about marriage, either as an option or something to reject. They saw it as fact that women could do anything.

The Story Behind Zou Bisou Bisou

First sung by Sophia Loren in English in 1960, remade in French by Gillian Hills in 1961, and brought back to life on Mad Men last night by Mrs. Don Draper, Zou Bisou Bisou is the perfect song for a 1960s sex kitten.

On Sunday's Season 5 premiere of Mad Men, Don's new wife, Megan, channels a yé-yé girl, a term derived from "yeah! yeah!" The yé-yé movement was comprised of female pop singers from France, Québec, and Spain, whose likes included Françoise Hardy, Gillian Hills, and Sheila. The themes of the songs, often written by men like Serge Gainsbourg and Michel Rivgauche, were innocent, while the girls channeled a sexy naiveté.

Mad Men's Megan, who is originally French Canadian, embodied this contradiction perfectly last night in the episode appropriately titled "A Little Kiss" (bisou means kiss in French). Don Draper's much younger wife hopped around playfully, singing the French version of the song and lifting her skirt to show a little leg. The French lyrics she sang translated to: "But who needs the bushes of August when you hold me softly around the neck?" But later in the episode we saw Don grab her in a not-so soft way, as a cleaning session led to rough sex between the Drapers.

5 Reasons This Anti-Planned Parenthood Video Will Make You Laugh

The American Life League has figured out Planned Parenthood's grand scheme. The women's health organization wants to get kids hooked on sex, so it can sell them birth control and STD screenings, and eventually cash in on abortion services (never mind that birth control should reduce STD treatments and abortion). The American Life League has put out this video comparing Planned Parenthood's "business model" to that of a drug dealer, because it tries to get kids hooked on sex. The League accuses Planned Parenthood of being obsessed with sex, but if this video proves anything, it's that the American Life League is obsessed with sex. Here are five reasons this video will make you laugh out loud as you cringe.

Planned Parenthood's goal is to make sex addicts. The host says with a straight face, "Just as a drug dealer's goal is to make drug addicts, Planned Parenthood's goal is to make sex addicts."
Masturbation is the gateway drug. If it weren't for Planned Parenthood, people wouldn't masturbate, this video seems to claim, and if they didn't masturbate, they wouldn't have sex and need the services Planned Parenthood provides.
Teen girls get STDs at gay pride parades. After showing footage of a gay pride parade, the host declares, "Is it any wonder that one in four teenage girls has an STD?"
Penises and vaginas come in many forms. We see genitals in the form of sex toys, balloons, cartoons, lollipops, cakes, macaroons, and more.
The description of sex education. Sex ed seems to turn on the American Life League, which claims in this video: "Once they get to high school, you know right about the time that they hit puberty, Planned Parenthood tells vulnerable teens stimulating and intimate things about sex."

While there's nothing funny about spreading negative messages about our bodies, homosexuality, or sex in general, I still think this video will still make you laugh. Watch above.
