Access Store Coupons on Your iPhone With the Yowza App

With the holidays right around the corner, I'm not only starting to think about shopping, but I'm also thinking of creative ways to save. Yesterday, I told you about ten websites that will help you save some money on gifts, and today it's all about Yowza!!, an iPhone and iPod Touch app that will show you all of the store coupons within a mile or as far as 15 miles from where you are shopping (which makes sense why it has two exclamations after its name!).

Once you download this free app, open it and you will see all of the coupons applicable to your location, or you can type in a store name to see what's available. And if an offer includes a bar code, just have the cashier scan the barcode, right from your phone. No coupon clipping, no paper, no hassles - I die!

On Nov. 20, eBay will be opening a 5,500 square-foot, fun interactive pop-up store on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York where customers can shop the entire eBay Marketplace via Internet kiosks, handheld tablets and the eBay iPhone app. And on Black Friday, there will be a limited quantity of daily deal products which will be awarded to the first 100 shoppers who visit the store - get em' while they're hot!

Don't think you'll be making it to New York before the holidays, eBay will have its very own mobile boutique that will go to various cities around the country. On the tour, eBay experts will provide guests with trend insights, shopping tips and gift-giving advice. From Nov. 10 until Dec. 20, the eBay mobile will be visiting shopping areas in Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and Orange County, so hopefully you can check it out then.

Website of the Day: Measy

I have an issue when purchasing new gadgets: I seem to know what I want (I need a digital camera that takes awesome close-up photos but also works well in low light), but I'm not positive exactly which make or model is the best choice.

And while I appreciate the product reviews on some of my favorite sites, I don't feel like exhaustively reading them before I make a decision. So, I'm excited about Measy, a new site that aggregates product information, reviews, photos, and shopping information to help you make the best decision via a fun quiz.

To keep reading about Measy, just read more.

If you're in the market for a new digital camera, DSLR, HDTV, or netbook but aren't sure which one's right for you, just answer a few easy questions. What's your price range? Which features are most important, or not important at all? Would you prefer to purchase from an eco-friendly company? Measy then recommends top product matches, scored on performance in each category you deemed important. Scores are supplemented with product reviews from top sites like PC Magazine and CNET, so you know why each product scored the way it did. Results also include links, so you can directly purchase the product.

The site was just launched in beta, so I'm looking forward to seeing which features they roll out next. I wish there was a Measy for every purchase - or maybe even online dating!

Have an interesting website you want to share? Here's how you can post your favorite websites to our Website of the Day group:

First of all, join the Website of the Day group.

Click "New Post" under the website of the day tab at the top of the page.

Give your story a "Title."

Fill in the "Body" with a link to your favorite website and the reasons why you love it.

Type "Technology and Gadgets" in the Categories box

Add keyword(s) in the tag field with relevant tags (for example mine for this story was "Website of the Day").

Choose whether you want the post to be private or public.

Click "Create Post" to submit content.

You Can Now Buy Computers From Microsoft's Online Store

Microsoft has had quite the week to say the least! The company not only launched its latest operating system - Windows 7 - but it also opened a new retail store in Arizona. And starting today, you can now go to Microsoft's website and buy a Windows PC directly from its website.

According to USA Today, Microsoft's addition of computers to its online store was bound to happen, as the company hopes the site will get people excited about using Windows - something that Best Buy and Wal-Mart don't really do.

Personally, I like the way that the site is set up. It's easy to navigate your way around, and you can quickly check off fields to narrow your results. What do you think? Would you now go to Microsoft's site to purchase a Windows PC, or are you going to stick to the other online retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Wal-Mart?

Geek Tip: Customize Your Kicks Online

I love a good set of online tools on a website, especially when it's coupled with another one of my favorite things: shopping. I'm especially loving the instant gratification of the design-your-own sneakers tools from some favorite brand-name shoe companies: Nike, Puma, Converse, and Keds all offer a customization option for a few of their classic sneaker designs.

Though the tools vary by site, essentially you can click on different sections of the shoe: interior, left side, right side, details, laces - and choose a color or print for each section. You can view your shoe from different angles, too - side view, top view, back view, and more. The tools are incredibly easy to use and a lot of fun. I may not be able to commit to just one pair! If you can stop playing with the design tools and finally commit to your perfect pair, know that they'll take a little longer to arrive - each pair is custom-made to order.

Shop Tommy Hilfiger on Your iPhone

I love shopping, I love my iPhone, and I love any application that makes it easier for me to shop on my iPhone. Tommy Hilfiger just released an iPhone app making it unbelievably easy to shop for men, women, and children's clothes, right from your phone.

My favorite part is how closely you can zoom into an item to check it out. One tap adds selected items to your cart and another brings you directly to the check out. The app also allows you to create an account and stores your credit card and shipping info.

Use the app to search by price, category (including sale items!), or size, and browse through top-selling items. And, since there's nothing worse than finding out an item you must have is out of stock, the app allows you to register to receive a push notification when you're able to purchase it. That's one notification I'd be delighted to receive!

And if you can't get enough mobile shopping, check out more great shopping apps: ShopStyle Mobile, Gap's StyleMixer, even Ikea!

Gap's Style Mixer iPhone App Hooks You Up With Discounts

Why do you need another free app from a retailer?

Because Gap's Style Mixer app for the iPhone does more than just let you peruse and mix Gap pieces - the cool feature is that when you open the app near a Gap store, you unlock a special discount.

So, sure, you can mix and match styles and then add them to Facebook, but what you really want is the discount, right?

And if you can't find a Gap store? There's an app for that.

Urban Outfitters to Sell Last of Polaroid Film Starting Today

Have you been following the Impossible Project as closely as I have? The project, which consists of former Polaroid employees, is attempting to invent new instant film in the vein of the beloved camera.

Their latest coup is an amazing one: the Impossible Project acquired the last of Polaroid's instant film and camera kits and is going to sell them via Urban Outfitters, starting today. Of course, it's deadstock and very limited edition, and you'll have to go to one of the physical stores to get the film or kits.

To see the stores and dates that will have the Polaroid camera kits, just read more.

On Aug. 21, the stores in Vancouver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco will have it at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m., Cambridge, MA, and the Broadway and 2nd Ave. NYC stores will have it. What's promising is that the graphic says these stores will have it "first," so maybe other locations will eventually get the film and kits, too.

Ikea Shopping to Be Changed Forever by an iPhone App

Ikea shopping is an experience unto itself; there's the imagining of oneself in the room setups; those amazing meatballs; and of course, tracking your projected purchases via a list and golf pencil.

As Ikea as penciling in the word Malm with its aisle and bin location is, there's a new iPhone app that replaces the old technique. SwedeShop is a virtual shopping list custom built for Ikea, and does a lot for the 99 cents it costs. Record the item you want to buy at the end and its location, then at the end, the app sorts the warehouse locations so you can map out an easy route to your goods.

Also, if you're tempted to spend more than you meant to (those pretty napkins and Scandinavian kitchen gadgets add up), SwedeShop also offers a budgeting feature, and will let you know if the stuff you've recorded has tipped over your set budget.

First Ikea Mobile, now this? Nice geeky work, Sweden!

Try On Ray-Bans Virtually With the New Online Mirror

Using 3D technology, this cool tool is similar to the IBM Virtual Mirror since it allows you to try on the goods without needing to be in the store. Now there's no guarantee how accurate this new service is, but at least it will let you know if those black Audrey Hepburn glasses are going to look chic or just cover half your face.
