If you want to plan something — say a get-together, outing, event, restaurant date, whatever — Center'd is a new site that offers plenty of planning tools to make an event come together. This site, which I spotted on Mashable, provides info from users on what restaurants, attractions, events, and shopping places are worth visiting (they currently offer listings for 12 major cities across the US). You can also pick from categories like outdoors, kid friendly, recession busters, and romantic to narrow your search even more.

I have a habit my boyfriend hates, but it's really hard to stop. Every time I pass a restaurant on the street, I have to stop and read the menu. I can't help it.

Imagine for a moment that the next time you go to a busy restaurant, you don't get stuck holding a big pager that is bound to scare the living daylights out of you when it vibrates to alert you that your table is ready.
The solution? The ingenious and brilliant service from ReadyPing that allows restaurant hosts to text message their guests to let them know that they can be seated.

I've talked about uWink before, the restaurant chain started by Atari founder Nolan Bushnell, that combines food, drinks, and media, by offering games, table-to-table tournaments, Internet access, gaming, entertainment and movie trailers to guests.
Listen-up geeks, uWink has just opened its doors at a new location in Mountain View, CA. Here you'll find customers ordering American comfort food via touchscreen terminals that double as multiplayer game consoles, 20 projectors that show everything from eye candy to football games, while wood walls attempt to provide a natural counterpoint to all that tech.

Skip the line at busy restaurants by ordering ahead and paying for meals via SMS with GoMobo.com— a site which recently launched in New York City. Now spanning most of the nation, GoMobo is an easy to use service where you create a free online account and then send a GoCode to 466626 (GOMOBO) on your phone keypad to order by text. You'll then get a confirmation message letting you know when your order will be ready.

The first "dark restaurant" in China opened in December and reactions to the idea of the unusual dining experience are varied. The restaurant, which is located in Beijing, has its interior painted completely in black. Customers are greeted by a lit entrance hall and are escorted by waiters wearing night vision goggles into the pitch dark dining room to help them find their seats.

I have mixed feelings about location-based services like Google Latitude, which pinpoints and shares your location in real time, or Foursquare, the application allowing you to "check in" and share your location with friends. Granted, there are privacy settings, but the whole tracking-in-real-time thing creeps me out a bit.
Now it seems Latitude got a little bit creepier.
