Remember the Milk Hits the App Store!

One of my favorite sites (and lifesavers) has been Remember the Milk. I've raved about the text messaging reminders, and the fact that you can create custom lists and share them with others, which has made my life so much easier. Especially since I have trouble remembering when to take the trash out. Well . . . sometimes.

So my relief hit an all-time high when Remember the Milk came to the iTunes App Store. And the best part? If you're a proud Pro account holder, it's still free! Free to get organized, free to manage my time, and free to share my tasks with my BF - cause you know, that grocery shopping won't get done on its own.

Milk Carton Lamps: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

If you're a fan of milk (and you'd have to be), today is your lucky day. I found yet another milky product that you can use at home, without having to worry about it spoiling. Remember the milk external hard drives? Well these milk carton Long Life Lamps ($65) I found on (wait for it) Supermarket can stack up against that cooling hard drive case any day - they're so much more realistic!

To be used anywhere you need light, these lamps come with a super long-lasting bulb (hence the name). And even though you can have this lamp hang out on your desk with all your gadgets, I'd like to see it as a centerpiece for my kitchen table. You know, to fool my overnight guests when they go for the milk in the mornings.

New GCal Tasks in Action

The other day, I briefly mentioned how Google was rolling out task list functionality within Google Calendar. Today when I opened my GCal, what beautiful option appeared? It was a lovely task link for keeping my to-dos and calendar items in one spot. Now you have the ability to conveniently manage your to-dos in your Gmail account as well as in your Calendar - I guess this means I am one step closer to kissing Remember the Milk goodbye.

What's great about GCal Tasks is that you can enter items that have due dates, and they will automatically show up in your calendar. When a task is finished, you can click its check box and you can sort tasks by due date under the Actions menu at the bottom of the list. Tasks are draggable and droppable, just like items in your GCal.

Has Technology Made You More Productive?

With websites like Remember The Milk and devices like the BlackBerry, it's almost hard not to stay organized. Technology provides us with a bajillion useful applications and tools to help keep us on track (gotta love Google apps), but do these modern day inventions waste our time?

Many people have become social networking site addicts, online gamers, and YouTube junkies. Just like infomercials that can suck you in at odd hours of the night, I find that cell phones, games and the internet can do just the same.

What are your thoughts? Has technology been a help or hindrance to your overall productivity?
