To put into perspective how much this beauty of a hard drive can hold, picture this: 640,000 photos, over 2,900 hours of music and 240 hours of video, for a total capacity of 160GB -yes, it's a decent size! The eGo is USB powered so you don't need to drag around an external power supply and it features drop guard for added protection if it were to ever fall off a desk or table.

The eGo hard drive can be used with Macs or PCs and costs only $100. Check out the gallery below to see just how pretty it really is!

The New Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive

Looks may be deceiving, but don't be fooled: I promise this is a sexier and sleeker version of the eGo drive I reviewed last year.

This much lighter, third generation, 320GB drive offers built-in antivirus software and an impressive rugged aluminum exterior that can withstand a 1.3 meter drop, which you know as well as I do is very important when you're lugging around a device that holds your important data.

Online, this puppy will cost you around $95, which is pretty affordable, considering I've heard of similar devices going for upwards of $150.

After a few months of use, I had some issues with my first eGo drive, so I was pleased to hear Iomega is offering a three-year warranty on the third gen drives. What really irks me, though, is that these drives are primarily built for PCs, not Macs. The included USB cord comes with a cord to plug into your drive and two attached USB cords to plug into your laptop. On many Macs, there are two USB ports (on opposite sides of the laptop), so plugging in both cords is practically impossible. Although your drive may be able to run with only one USB cord plugged in, it isn't sufficient power to experience the high-speed data transfer rates. And sadly, a powered USB bus isn't included, even though there is an auxiliary power port for it. So if you really want to use it on your Mac, you'd have to invest in one.

This is the midnight blue version, but it is also available in red, silver, and black. With the noteworthy upgrades from the last eGo, I think this eGo is worthy of four stars.

View 4 Photos ›

[re] drive: The Eco-Geek-Chic Portable Hard Drive

Going geeky-green doesn't only mean conserving energy or using solar-powered gadgets, it can also include purchasing devices that are made from renewable and recyclable materials, like this [re] drive, which was designed for Fabrik by Stuart Karten Design, a Los Angeles based industrial design firm. I got the chance to check out this plug n' play 500 GB external hard drive, and it's completely eco-friendly; from the 100 percent recyclable bamboo panels, aluminum case and box it comes in, right down to the low-power design that performs quietly and reliably.

This drive is not only eco on the outside, but it includes auto sensing power (that will turn on or off with your computer) and an energy star power adapter that keeps grid demands to a minimum, and its unique exterior ridges act to keep the drive cool without the use of a fan. The [re] drive is both Mac and PC compatible and costs $130.

The Toshiba NB205 Mini Laptop Is Coming to America

Later this month, Toshiba will be bringing its teeny and chic 10.1-inch NB205 netbook to the States, and it is expected to cost only between $350 to $400. With its nine-hour battery life, durability, Bluetooth functionality, and cool colors like brown, white, pink, or blue, it's definitely a winner in my book. This laptop is extremely portable and perfect for anyone who wants to stay connected on the go - and you don't get stuck paying the hefty price of other netbooks on the market.

Noteworthy features include a hard drive impact sensor that will guard data if it happens to take a tumble, a USB port with sleep and charge (so you can charge other gadgets like your iPhone when it's even turned off), and it is extremely power efficient. How's that for one cute little laptop?

Does Hard Drive Color Matter to You?

When I purchased my first computer, laptop, and MP3 player, the last thing I cared about was its color - I was just overjoyed to be able to call one of these gadgets my very own (plus they didn't come in cool colors like red or pink).

Nowadays, whether it be laptops, iPods, or USB flash drives, you can usually find your favorite gadget in your favorite color as well. But I must admit, seeing candy-colored external hard drives is a rarity. When external drives become just as popular as flash drives, I'll understand why they need to be splashed in 11 different colors like these My Passport Essential Portable Drives. For some reason, I think of black when I think of a hard drive, but then again, that's me having to adapt to hard drives being just as beautiful as every other gadget I own . . . But I do love my pink eGo, so maybe there is a part of me that cares.

What do you think? Do you care what color your external hard drive is?

Would You Rather: MacBook Air or MSI X320?

We've heard this all before: MSI introduced an ultralight and portable laptop at CES yesterday that is touted to be an "Air Killer." Humm, I'm not so sure about that just yet, but it is a 2.9 pound, 1.98 centimeter package with a 13-inch widescreen (16:9) display (virtually a Macbook Air clone), so it's sounding pretty good so far.

What's the biggest jaw dropper about the MSI? The price tag that starts at a whopping $1100 dollars cheaper than the Air at $700 bucks. Now, of course I'd need to know more details (ports, memory, hard drive space, etc.), but the X320 is looking pretty darn nice, especially since saving money is kinda key right now.

Source

Would You Rather: MacBook Air or MSI X320?

 MacBook Air all the way!

With that price, I'll take the MSI!

I don't need a super light laptop, since I don't carry mine around.

 I don't care, I have a desktop.
