I couldn't be happier to know that there will be another chance to pick up a Polaroid One Step and a packet of instant film next year. After Polaroid announced that the instant film camera would be put out to pasture back in 2008, there was an uprising of epic proportions — fans did not want to let go of the beloved medium. In a digital world, there's something comforting about capturing the moment with such a low tech and vintage device.

I once asked you if you would jump on board if Polaroid were revived — an overwhelming amount of you said yes. Well hold on to your hats, photo geeks, cause it's on its way! At a press conference today in Hong Kong, Polaroid announced that they will be re-launching the One Step camera and allowing The Impossible Project (a group of former Polaroid employees who have been working to revive the medium and who also released the last of the instant film to Urban Outfitters earlier this year) to produce a limited amount of instant black and white and color film in 2010.

I have an unending well of sentimentality for Polaroids, whether they're really coming back or not.
Cue the Polaroid Notes ($15), a set of 20 notecards and envelopes. The images are sweet and dreamy, which is how I think we tend to remember Polaroids (rather than washed out and abrupt).

I just love being able to transform a new photo into something that looks like it's from my grandmother's old photo box. I've already told you about Poladroid — the downloadable app that makes it quick and easy to make a photo look like a retro-chic Polaroid pic.
Well now there's a site called Rollip that is similar to Poladroid, but offers a few more customization options.

It was sad news when we first heard that Polaroid was halting production of its instant film, but as photography buffs who mourned, wasn't it partly our fault? I'm sure there are some shutterbugs who stayed loyal to film, but I would guess the majority of us have gone digital — an adoption that precipitated Polaroid's demise.
This January, hope returned when the company's former employees announced they were taking on the "Impossible Project" to bring instant film back into production.

Do you miss your gadgets when you're not in the kitchen (the gadgets other than your mixer and blender, that is)? Bring a piece of technology — vintage technology, no less — into the kitchen with the Polaroid Tea Towel ($18) by Red Velvet Art.
I have sort of thing for adorable tea towels (I'm looking into it), and these towels, with the Polaroid camera lovingly embroidered on and the blue rickrack around the border .
