Finally, the Juno hamburger phone has the perfect companion. The French Fry Phone ($20) is unapologetically wacky, not to mention retro (look at it in its corded glory!).

The ideal recipient loves vintage technology, primary colors, and is not afraid of carbs. One question: where's the soda phone?

Pink Metro Phone: Love It or Leave It?

As dependent as I am on my cell phone (ahem, that is, both my cell phones), I still really like having a landline. It's nice to have a back-up, service is pretty cheap, and it just feels normal to me. Of course, I'm still pretty picky about the design of a house phone I'll buy - in that it needs to be a cute part of my decor. I think this retro Pink Metro Phone from Pottery Barn Kids is totally adorable - the style is such an old school and romantic design. And it isn't too retro - it's cordless, of course. Although I don't know if I could commit to the pink (but there is a black version on Pottery Barn's main site). How do you feel about the retro pink phone?

Mario Kart Phone and Alarm Clock: Geek or Geek Chic?

I've always been shocked by the shortage of fun Super Mario and Mario Kart items out there considering people seem to know everything there is to know about the Bros. and they seem to be at the top of everyone's favorite video game list. The Mario Kart Phone and Alarm Clock may not be the most sophisticated video game gear ever, but they are cute and would be fun for all the little geeks in our lives. The phone is $60 and the clock is $40. Are they chic enough for your desk or living space?

Geek Tip: Delete Your Number From Google PhoneBook Results

I was surprised to learn that Google has introduced a new Phonebook feature that allows you to Google phone numbers and get the corresponding name and address on a Google map. For some, this may seem like a useful business and "yellow-page inspired" tool. For others - particularly yours truly and families with young children - this feels like a "street-view-esque" invasion of privacy.

If your number is listed in the ordinary yellow pages, but you don't want your phone number and address to pop up when someone googles your name and city or phone number, you can request to have your information removed. Google's phone and address listings are gathered by a third party provider, which collects telephone directories and other public records available elsewhere on the web. If you would like to have your telephone number completely unlisted (including from your local phone book) you have to contact your local phone company and request to be both unlisted and unpublished. If you want to remove your number from Google, you just have to fill out a simple form. Doing so will mean your residential listing does not appear in Google for any phonebook search, even searches conducted on your name instead of your phone number. Oscar Worthy Gadgets: Technology in The Departed

The Departed is not only an Oscar nominated action-packed film with some of the greatest actors of our time, but it is also a gadget-packed movie featuring some of the most advanced technology of our time! Here is a shot from a sting set up, where the police are equipped with high-tech laptops and headphones to help them combat Jack Nicholson's organized crime ring. Some interesting techie tidbits: When Colin Sullivan, played by Matt Damon, is switching Sim cards in the phone booth, he is using a Sprint RL7400 cell phone, which doesn't actually use Sim cards in real life. Also when Colin uses Captain Queenan's phone (played by Martin Sheen), the close-up shows the blood transferring from his finger to the left side of the talk button but the wide shot shows the blood on the right side. One last thing - try watching the movie again and pay close attention to the recording of cell phone conversations. Near the beginning Nicholson puts something into his cell phone. Oscar Worthy-Gadgets: The Queen's Phone

Everyone is buzzing about The Queen, which happens to be nominated for six Academy Award nominations, including best director, actress and screenplay. The film, which details the death of Lady Diana Spencer and the public relations fiasco that followed, has gotten a great deal of press concerning its costumes -it's also nominated for best costumes - and set. I couldn't help but be captivated by the old fashioned phone the queen, played by Helen Mirren, uses.

The film takes place in 1997, when cordless phones were pretty commonplace in most American homes, but apparently hadn't made it into the queen's domicile. read more

Oddly enough, 10 years later, I can't think of a single person I know that uses a cord phone in her or his house. In fact, in the last few years most of my friends have gone so far as to give up their landlines and just use cell phones as their home phone. I guess the queen's phone isn't vintage geek yet, but it certainly looks regal.

The Ann Sweety from Samsung Combines Phone and TV Remote

Check out the newest phone in the Ann series collection introduced by South Korea's Korea Telecom - the Ann Sweety.

This cool blue phone from Samsung functions as both a cordless telephone and as a remote for your TV, DVD and other electronic gadgets. This triple threat phone can also send SMS messages! I'm sure we'll be seeing something like this introduced in the U.S very soon.

What are your thoughts on all-in-one gadgets like this? A little too complex or a lifesaving invention?

LG and Prada Team Up to Make Designer Phone

LG Electronics recently announced it has teamed up with the always chic Prada to develop "an innovative and iconic mobile phone." LG previously collaborated with Roberto Cavalli to create an Ultra Slim UMTS Phone (shown at right).

Apparently, the first LG Prada phone will combine high-end technology with avant-garde design. LG claims the joint effort focused on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface and music as well as its look, for example design and packaging. Photos of the gadget have not been released.

The initial launch is planned for early 2007, with distribution starting in Europe (first in Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany), followed by countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. I'm still on the fence when it comes to designer phones, but when I hear Marc Jacobs wants to team up with Blackberry I might change my mind.

Geek Tip: Avoid Extra Holiday Pounds With Lose It

For me, part of gearing up for the holiday season is the realization that I'm going to overindulge in holiday goodies from time to time. While this time of year isn't the best for trying to shed extra pounds, there's still benefit in watching what I'm eating - even if I allow myself a few "cheat" days here and there. Lose It! is an iPhone app that tracks caloric and nutritional intake as well as calories burned by exercise, giving you a calorie budget for the day.

First, enter your starting weight, your goal weight (if you want to lose, that is), height, and birth date, and the app figures how many calories you need to lose a few pounds or maintain your current weight. Then, enter exactly what you've eaten that day (you can search by meal, favorite foods, previous meals, even brand name foods from supermarkets and restaurants) and any exercise you've done. The app tracks your daily, weekly, and monthly caloric intake, factoring any exercise into the equation.

I'm certainly not shooting for any serious weight loss before January (hello pumpkin pie!), but it will be nice to know how many calories I'm consuming during non"cheat" days.
