These Pentax K-x DSLRs are nothing to scoff at - they come with 12.4MP sensors, a rear 2.7-inch live-view LCD screen on the back, shoots 720p HD video, and provide shake reduction, face detection, and image stabilization, all in a compact and portable body. But they also come in a variety of bright colors - ranging from a neon green, to orange - that I'm not sure I'm fond of. Color-splashed gadgets certainly aren't a turn-off for me, but drawing that much attention to a $650 camera seems a little dangerous. What do you think?

The images of the Pentax Optio l-10 were supposedly leaked early yesterday morning, but by the afternoon the camera was confirmed and quickly made it to the top of my "want" list. Why? Well, look at this thing! Its white hot exterior is a throwback to film SLRs of old, but that only masks the very "now" tech inside: 12MP, wide-angle 5x optical zoom, 2.7 inch LCD screen, and HD video recording.

The WS80 Waterproof Cam Sorta Replaces the Popular W60

Pentax sure made a big splash in the tech world when it debuted its 10-megapixel, 720p recording, 5x optical zoom W60 waterproof camera last year. Till this day, people are still raving about this compact cam that puts some regular point-and-shoot cameras to shame.

Well, Pentax has just announced its latest in the waterproof world - the Pentax WS80. At $250, this camera is just shy of being $100 cheaper than the W60, yet it boasts the high def 720p recording, and the 10-megapixel rating. The only major thumbs down is that it can't be used in waters deeper than five feet, whereas the W60 is waterproof up to 13 feet. Shallow snorkelers, this new Pentax camera is for you. Deep sea divers, guess again.

Pentax Debuts a Winter White SLR

It's beginning to look a lot Christmas in the tech-world, what with the profusion of white gadgets giving way to this, Pentax's White SLR.

The K2000 is going to be limited edition, clearly, and there's no pricing available yet, but CNET notes that the non-white version of this camera is about $800.

The only thing I don't really like is the black detailing, but I think I could live with that just to rock something so unusual. What do you think?

Get Wet And Wild With The Pentax Waterproof Cam

Whenever I experiment with underwater cameras I alway seem to mess up the pictures. While I've really only used inexpensive disposable ones, the pictures always turn out blurry, dark and unrecognizable. Maybe it's my photography skills or the fact that I use disposable cameras...whatever the reason, I still have yet to master this skill. So when I saw this Pentax waterproof digital camera, it got me thinking that a) It's time I jet off somewhere exotic where I can take underwater pictures and b) I need to buy a decent waterproof camera. The waterproof Pentax is not only for underwater adventures (up to 10 feet deep), but it can also be used in the rain or snow. With 7.1 megapixels, 22 MB of built-in memory and an anti-reflective screen with bright mode for direct sunlight, this camera is definitely a high class cam. Priced at $300.

Cool Capture: Surfside

This is a photo I took while at New Smyrna Beach, FL, in 2008. My mom and I stumbled upon this beautiful sand castle while on a twilight beach walk. I used an old film Pentax K1000 and scanned with an Epson negative scanner (100 ISO, I believe). There were no modifications to the digital file.
