DIY Geeky Pac-Man-Carved Pumpkins

The hardest part about making these adorable 8-bit gourds is finding just the right pumpkins to carve! Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories the creators of this Pac-Man-carved creation, suggest finding a bagful of these decorative gourds at the grocery store - try to find one with a curvy base and a rounded one with a flat base.

And now that you've got the perfect pumpkins, here's how you should carve your pumpkins:

Gourds like these have a hard shell, about 3mm thick, that is rather hard to cut through. We used a loose drill bit (turned by hand) to make the initial cut. From there, a regular hobby knife (e.g., X-acto) works well. Once the soft flesh and seeds are scooped out, the hard shell can dry to make a semipermanent display.

Although I can keep up with the best of them when it comes to modern warfare games like Gears of War and Halo, being the vintage geek that I am, I can't help but hold my favorite old-school arcade games close to my heart. So even though I can't find Galaga at an arcade within a five-mile walking radius of my apartment (I'd go pretty far to drop a few quarters in that baby), I could play right at home with these Pac-Man and Atari game controllers.

These all-in-one controllers hook right up to your TV and provide hours of arcade gaming entertainment (they each include 10 games or more) for a mere $40. Which, let's face it, would be less than I'd drop at my local Pizza Palace arcade during any given month in the '90s.

Pac-Man is one of my all time favorite games. I loved spending countless hours avoiding ghosts, munching on the dots and picking up fruit for bonus points. Namco has just announced that Ms. Pac-Man is now available for download from the iPod store for fifth-generation iPods. Ms. Pac-Man joins Pac-Man, which launched last September on iTunes, and is expected to be another must-have for iPod owners. Get both of these timeless games for $5 on the iTunes store.

Great features of the iPod version of Ms. Pac-Man include:

four unique maze designs
256 maze levels
'coffee break' animated intervals from the original game
original retro game sound options or music from your iPod library while playing

Pac-Man was definitely the ultimate arcade game, although I don't know if I'd take my passion for a game and plaster it on my bathroom wall! Check this out- a Pac-Man public restroom plastered with tiles honoring this timeless game. This artistic bathroom is located in the specialty gaming store Game Junkie of Westchester Ohio. Sure, Pac-Man is often credited with being a landmark in video game history, and is among the most famous arcade games of all time. Sure every mother, child and brother knows how to play it. And yes, we love the Pac-man shot glasses, and scarves out there, but would you decorate your living space with a Pac-Man Rug? As nostalgic as it makes me, I'm gonna have to leave this one in the dust, especially after learning it costs $2,182.

Do You See What I See? It's a Designer Pac Man Dress!

I had learned from Fab that fashion designer Giles Deacon had incorporated some intense geeky Pac Man headgear during his London Fashion Week runway show, but I had no idea that such a dress like this existed - stop the presses!

After my run in with the Space Invaders dress at the FCUK store, it became apparent to me that video game graphics on sexy designer dresses wasn't that taboo, and that it was actually kinda sexy.

This sparkly couture Pac Man dress features the key elements from the popular arcade video game, including the ghosts and Pac Man himself. Now get some cherries on there, and this geek would have to add one to her ever-growing wish list!

Pac-Man Wine Charms: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Pac-Man updated to drinking age! These handmade Pac-Man Wine Charms use characters from the vintage arcade game to make markers for wine glass stems, which is mucho helpful during a party.

For $12 you get a set of six of these charms, and the ultimate compromise in growing up (or, well, growing older). Old vice, meet new vice.

If you're a serious geek you understand just how serious vintage video game fans are about their game inspired apparel and jewelry. While I saw a ton of Space Invader items this fall, I think PacMan may be making a comeback.

The Tiny Armour Ms. Pac-Man Ring, $68, lets you celebrate your love for Pac-man fever and looks even more amazing paired with the ghost ring. It may be a bit more youthful than the Fancy geek rings we featured a few weeks back, but I do think it's geek chic. What do you think?
