Sgt. Pepper Headed to the Rock Band Music Store Tomorrow

September was a big month for The Beatles in the gaming world when The Beatles Rock Band hit the market. I went crazy over it during a sneak peek at E3, and was not disappointed when I got my own copy. Although The Beatles have not always been so chummy with tech, times are a-changing as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band makes its way to The Beatles: Rock Band music store tomorrow for your Xbox 360 and Wii systems, and will be available on your PS3 on Nov. 19!

Although I'd love to, I can't really throw down for their special edition digital collection, so I'm stoked at least to get to play along on one of my favorite games. To see how much each track from the album will set you back, just read more.

Individual singles from the record like "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "Lovely Rita" can be purchased for $1.99 each (or 160 Microsoft Points on your Xbox), while the entire album can be downloaded for $13.50 (1080 Microsoft Points). Wii owners can rock out with The Beatles tomorrow as well, but you'll be paying $2 a pop or 200 Wii Points for the tracks.

Wanna have some mid-day fun? A cool site called Incredibox taps into your musical side by helping you make your very own beatboxes. To get started, just drag the types of sounds you want from sections like instruments, percussion, chorus, effects, and more into your little beatboxer guys t-shirt, and you'll start to hear the beat. If you want to mix it up, or add something else, just click on your beatboxer shirt to remove a sound. I actually got a beat going that I really enjoyed, and thought, "Heck yeah, I created that beatbox!"

I know there're plenty of ways for you to discover new music online - from Pandora to my new fave, CitySounds - but I'm about to add another to your bag of tricks. Called Gnoosic, this website asks you point blank what bands or artists you like, works its analyzing magic, then spits out a list of recommended artists you might fancy.

Sure, it doesn't have a fancy interface like Pandora, but it's smart - it's a self-adapting system that has compiled thousands of band names from users, then learned what people like and don't like based on its rating system. Plus, it's free and won't ask for any registration to use, so I don't know why you wouldn't give it a shot. Your ears will thank you.

I'm always on the lookout for new music, and although Pandora does a pretty good job of "getting" my tastes and introducing me to new artists, sometimes I feel like I really just need to branch out and expand my musical horizons. What a better way to do that than to check out the most popular tunes from around the globe?

That's exactly what you get with CitySounds.fm - a world tour of music right at your desk. I've already found and downloaded a few tracks that I couldn't get enough of, and I couldn't be happier with the latest entries to my music library. Should You Really Not Share Your iPod Playlist?

A study from the University of Cambridge focused on how we judge one another based on the contents of our iPods and came to the startling conclusion: Don't share your playlist with anyone!

Dr. Jason Rentfrow, who led the study, says that "we get a very strong impression about someone when we ask them what music they like," and that revealing what you listen to can “reinforce stereotypes and, potentially, social prejudices” about you.

Well, duh. Don't we always judge people on their preferences in movie, music, TV, and books? Isn't that why things we like but view as lowbrow are called "guilty pleasures"?

I must admit that sharing your playlist with someone is an intimate thing, but I don't know that shielding everyone from your musical opinions is the answer to not being judged - I say go forth and share.

We've come a long way from reading the paper and flyers to find out when your next must-see (hear?) concert is going to be, and the new hotness is importing your Last FM and Pandora profiles to find out who your favorite bands are.

With All the New Music Games, Are You Still Into Guitar Hero 5?

You've got Band Hero, DJ Hero, Beatles Rock Band, Rapstar - the list of upcoming video games is a music lover's dream. But with all these new music-focused games, is there still room for the arguable originator, Guitar Hero, set to release its fifth iteration next month?

The new GH will feature a new guitar and the ability to import old Guitar Hero songs, and it will support four players for simultaneous playing.

I tell you, I want every single one of the music games I listed off, but I have a lot of excitement to go around and look forward to my original fave, Guitar Hero. But I guess it could be just nostalgia, you know?

Chalk this website up as one of my new favorite time wasters! I found Drum Set totally by chance, and I am now officially addicted. Drum Set allows you to make some hot and frikky-fresh beats just by using your keyboard. My favorite sound? That would be the M key. Don't think it's your cup of tea?
