Don't you just love being able to watch movies online and for free thanks to websites like Hulu and Fancast? But what if you love classic old movies from the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s that are practically impossible to find online - let alone on DVD! Well the Classic Cinema Online website is the place to visit when you want to access hundreds of films across many different categories including drama, musicals, and romantic comedies. If you're grandma is still on the fence about talking the jump into the online world, show her this site and she'll never leave her computer again!

Website of the Day: Double Feature Finder

I'm not one to pay for a movie ticket, then sneak into a second without paying (although I know some people who dabble in the art of creating their own double feature), so finding this website made me both laugh and point my mouse to my bookmark button. Double Feature Finder finds movies that run back to back so you can buy your tickets at the counter on your way into one flick, then head into another without having to go back out to stand in another line.

Just put in the title of the movie that you want to see, and DFF will spit out a list of other flicks that trail your preferred film at the same theater so you can check it out right after. Doing a double feature is perfect for rainy Winter days, or when there are a ton of movies out you just can't stop yourself from seeing in one afternoon. Just beware of your theater's ushers if you don't purchase both tickets beforehand. Don't say I didn't warn you!

James Cameron Gets Creative With Tech to Promote Avatar

Augmented reality seems to be the next big thing on the tech horizon - already new apps and even umbrellas are using the technology - and it doesn't seem to be in short supply either. Just after we learned that Esquire will be using augmented reality in their upcoming issue, I realized that James Cameron has also harnessed the feature to promote his next big blockbuster. Every time you buy an Avatar product - whether it be an action figure or a branded can of Coke - you can use your webcam to have some fun with 3D right in your home. Just hold the product up to your webcam, and you'll see a interactive 3D character on your screen. Sure, you can't do much with a 3D character, but it might make me pick up a can of soda next time I hit the convenience store!

In addition, the latest three minute Avatar trailer was released over the weekend to the "world's largest trailer-viewing audience", proving that Mr. Cameron is willing to use a pretty big bag of tech tricks to get our butts in the theater next month!

"No Signal" Cell Phone Reception Clips From Horror Flicks

Whenever I think of scary movies and phones, Scream instantly comes to mind - especially the gory Drew Barrymore kitchen scene - yikes! Back in the eighties and nineties, most horror movies had serial killers cutting phone lines so when the victim (usually helpless young women) went to call the police, the phone would be dead. Nowadays, screenwriters can't write this classic scenario into scripts because a majority of people have swapped their landlines for a cell phone. So what's a screenwriter to do? They are to play up the lack of cell phone service conundrum. Rich Four Four has put together this amazing compilation of 66 movies from 2000 that have done just that.

Are You Checking Out Gamer This Weekend?

I'm all about taking time out to watch a good flick over a holiday weekend, and this weekend the geeks can look forward to at least one move that's aimed at them: Gamer. Now, I'm a big fan of games, and have even been known to watch a few shows about gamers, but this action movie reminds me of a few other ones that weren't so great. Remember Death Race - a movie that pits death row inmates against each other in a race to see who gets set free? Toss in a burly star determined to go free, add a tough-as-nails woman in charge, and you have pretty much the same formula.

Although the formula of Gamer is similar, the plot does have its differences - players outside the prison are in control of the inmates (like avatars in a game). But I'm wondering, what's the point of setting them free if they aren't even in control? There are many questions to be answered. Check out the trailer above, then tell me - are you seeing Gamer when it opens on Friday?

There are times when I want to go to the movies, but I have no idea what movies are out and which ones are worth seeing. I can always check out BuzzSugar to see what movies are hitting the big screen and receiving rave reviews, but what do I do when I've got five minutes to decide what tickets to book on Fandango?

A cool site I discovered on makuseof called Skinni Popcorn is your no-fuss guide to movies. It shows you what's playing, lists the most popular movies, and includes the movies receiving the most buzz, helping you quickly decide on a movie when you're in a hurry.

Redbox Kiosks Now Charging $2 For Game Rentals

I have a wide selection of video games at my disposal, but there's something about being able to go to a kiosk and pick up a new title at any time that gets me excited. As you can probably guess, I'm that person who subscribes to Netflix but will still go to a kiosk and rent a movie.

Redbox movie rental kiosks are now offering video game rentals (including PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii video games) for only $2 per night.

Most of these kiosks are scattered around the US, but Reno, NV, is first to test out this affordable new game rental service.

Geek Tip: Spend Less on Shows With Amazon On Demand

Although my marriage with iTunes is still going strong, that doesn't mean a girl can't look at what else is out there, right? So when I want some cheap eye candy (in the form of movies or TV), I'll check out Amazon's On-Demand service.

A lot like iTunes, Amazon's On Demand brings you TV and movies when you want them, and you can even buy TV season passes and download the shows as they are released for $1.89 an episode. Plus, if you want to catch up on a specific show (cough, cough, Gossip Girl) I've found that on average, you can get the entire season for less than you can on iTunes.
