Andy Samberg made a surprise appearance at this morning's F8 developers conference, providing some comic relief (and posing as Mark Zuckerberg) to the delayed keynote kickoff. He also announced new features: a list called "I'm Not Friends With These People" and the "Slow-Poke," which takes 24 hours to deliver.

Could You Slaughter Your Own Food?

For the past week, culinary cognoscenti have hovered over the eating habits of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is now only eating meat that he kills himself. "I do think [people] should take responsibility and be thankful for what they eat rather than trying to ignore where it came from," he said in an email to Fortune magazine.

Others have stepped in to agree; celebrated chef Dan Barber lauded Zuckerberg for what he called "an incontestably moral act." But J. Kenji Lopez-Alt of Serious Eats pondered rhetorically, "[Likewise], should I have to experience what a librarian experiences before I check out a book?"

I think it's important, at some point in omnivorous life, to at least witness meat being slaughtered humanely - it adds a heightened level of awareness to the food we're eating. But would I really slaughter my meat? I'm not sure I could. What about you?

The Internet was abuzz on Friday with the news that 26-year-old Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg scooped up a new home in Palo Alto, CA, for a paltry $7 million, and now the photos are ready to be devoured. The 5,1617-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath landmark residence was originally built in 1903 and features beautiful historical elements, like sash windows, coffered ceilings, French doors, and deep porches. It also boasts an outdoor entertainment pavilion, complete with a fireplace, barbecue, spa, and pool, and a kitchen with an island and breakfast bar - ideal for social networking. Overall, it's quite traditional in style as well as spacious with lots of windows for obsessed engineers to peep into!

Meet Mark Zuckerberg's New Pup Beast

Last weekend Mark Zuckerberg adopted an 8-week-old Puli, Beast, and promptly created a Facebook fan page for him (no surprise there!) complete with pics of the furry fella. Does Your Pet Have an Online Presence?

Ninety-two percent of US babies have an established online presence before age 2 thanks to the power of photo sharing and online social networking. And while they aren't actual human children, people are certainly compelled to share similar information about pets, who are often just as big a part of the family as children.

Over the weekend, Mark Zuckerberg adopted a puppy and created a fan page for the dog, Beast, an 8-week-old Puli. Beast is poised to become remarkably famous on Facebook given his parents, but there are plenty of other pets on Facebook and other social networks - Boo, for example.

The dog I live with has a hilarious Twitter account that we update when she's done something particularly interesting or funny, but it's meant purely for humor's sake. Do you have pets with an online presence? Are they friends with other pets? Is that weird?

President Obama Meets With Tech Elite in Woodside

Yesterday we saw what seemed to be the official guest list for the Silicon Valley meet-up with President Obama, and it looks as if it was spot on. You can see from this image that all the heavy hitters in tech were there, including Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs (both seen flanking the POTUS), Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz (only one of two females in the group), along with Google CEO Eric Schmidt and several other CEOs including those from Twitter, Netflix, and Cisco.

A few interesting notes: you can see in the second image in this slideshow that Mark Zuckerberg left his jeans at home in exchange for a suit, while Steve Jobs kept with tradition by donning his usual St. Croix turtleneck. I guess he only breaks out the suit for the Oscars.

Is This the Official Guest List For Silicon Valley Meet-Up With President Obama?

It seems that NBC Bay Area has gotten its hands on what appears to be an official guest list for tonight's Silicon Valley dinner with President Obama.

As you may have already heard, the POTUS will be landing in the Bay Area tonight for a tech meet-up of his own; already-confirmed guests include Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and Eric Schmidt. However, the dinner table will be packed with other tech CEOs and bigwigs.
